Sonoftherock
Presume they've put that out to put pressure on him to sign. Seems counter productive, it's not going to endear him to the fans or the club to him. He'll not sign now! They wouldn't have released that ridiculous statement if there was any remaining chance! IMO the statement was released, probably in haste, because Celtic are still feeling the heat from the John McGinn debacle. I think they're trying to pre-empt the fan melt down that is going to follow! Link to comment
brownie
Celtic FC. Tin pot as fuck. 1 Link to comment

Guest
Appreciate that we haven't signed a top drawer player yet this transfer window but Turnbull apparently telling Popcorn Teeth and co to poke it has fairly cheered me up for now, excellent news Link to comment
Zeus
Terrific Hopefully it all falls through Link to comment
brownie
It'd brilliant if an English club come in a get him. Holding Scottish clubs to ransom is dickhead behaviour and even more so when they then moan about lack of challenge in the Scottish league. Link to comment
Frank Grimes
Superb I’d be fucking mortified if Aberdeen released a statement like that Sevco-esque Link to comment
RUL
The player has turned down both Rangers and Celtic a few times over the years. Apparently a very big Motherwell fan and felt he'd get a better chance of breaking into the first team, rather than either of the cheeks.... the talk for ages has been that the player wants to play in England. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47842253 Seems to verify that he is a big Motherwell fan. Excellent. Link to comment

I also read somewhere that we'd tried for him a few times over the years too (not just last Christmas). Seemingly been highly rated for a long time, even before making his debut... but has never been interested in leaving Motherwell. Link to comment

Sonoftherock
Kerrydale Street is a laugh just now. I just had a look! Let's hope this isn't a sign to come for the remainder of the window. But let's make not mistake it we are a eff shambles of a club off the park and no amount of "they are good Celtic men" from the usual mouthpieces will disguise it. A massive summer ahead and I have zero confidence that anyone inside that boardroom has a scoobie what the plan is. Those tweets are the worst part of all of this. They're the part that is pissing me off the most by far. Sack whoever decided releasing this news in this way via twitter was the right thing to do and give the job to Jack Hendry. They are rounding on Lawwell too! From what I've read about the player, I actually don't think it has anything to do with money. I just think he doesn't want to play for Celtic. Link to comment
aberdeen1970
The boy has gone up in my estimation if he's not interested in playing for Celtic or the Huns. Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
He's not worth £20k a week if that figure is true. Even £7.5k a week for a player of that age and game time (despite the transfer fee) is ridiculous. Can only imagine that he has another offer on the table from down south. Good on him turning his back on Celtic like.If he's worth the fee, he's worth the wage. That's how it should be.You cannot value a player highly in terms of fees to clubs & then take the piss out of them by not giving a similar credit to them in wages. That would be going back to the days of slavery in football where the players are just a number & the clubs are the only ones benefiting To an extent. Celtic are grippy cunts though, they only pay up when their fans put pressure on them to. With new players that the fans haven't really had a taste of yet, or the fans haven't yet classed as 'one of their own' they will try & paint the player as being unreasonable rather than admit they are being grippit cunts Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
Loving this though. Hope he makes the cunts pay through nose, or accept that they cannot just rob players on the cheap from other Scottish clubs using their media pressure bs like they usually do Link to comment

aberdeen1970
Well played to the lad. About time young Scottish kids realised there are better ambitions than signing for Huns or Celtic. Keeps him out of the old bigot fest too. Ryan Jack take note. Link to comment
V for Vendetta
It would be refreshing to see more young Scottish players look beyond joining one of the age old institutions of bigotry but I fear guys like McGinn and Turnbull are the minority. Could probably add Bates to that too. But for every Turnbull or Bates there are 10 Ryan Jack or Jason Cummings or Jordan Jones. Myopic wee snivelling fuckers. Link to comment
aberdeen1970
I think things are changing though. Kids will see more English football than Scottish football in many cases nowadays The days of Scottish kids having any indirect allegiance to one or the other are fading. They're a dying breed. redone
All depends on what options they have. Turnbull , like John McGinn a year ago , has at least one English club who can outmuscle both arse-cheeks financially , keen to sign him.Ryan Jack , seemingly rejected our offer to extend his contract , hoping that he’d get offers from English clubs , but none were interested ,or at least not interested enough. Going to the Huns was his best option financially. Link to comment

V for Vendetta
Yeah but it's the really good ones that say no to those two McLean too, could have went to "rangers" So what we are seeing are the ones with the wrong attitude, go to GlasgowYep, I think a lot of the time that's it. it's good for us because the players who'll turn down better offers from other clubs just to play for one of the OF are basically weak minded losers.
