NorthernLights24
Sony have finally announced the PS4 after what feels like years of rumours. You'd also imagine that Microsoft won't be far behind now with an announcement on a successor to the Xbox 360. Sony has announced its next-generation gaming console - the PlayStation 4 - at an event in New York. Its new hardware is designed to offer superior graphics as well as new social features including the sharing of recorded gameplay clips. It will succeed the PlayStation 3, which went on sale in 2006 and has sold about 75 million units. The PS4 will eventually compete against Microsoft's still-to-be-unveiled Xbox 360 successor and Nintendo's Wii U. A successful launch might drive sales of the Sony's new televisions and other consumer electronics, helping turn around its fortunes. Sony posted a 456.7bn yen loss ($4.9bn; Link to comment
NorthernLights24
There is a live stream on The Guardian website, I don't believe they have done the grand unveiling of the console itself yet. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2013/feb/20/sony-playstation-4-launch-live Link to comment

tup
I'm going to cling to my X-Box 360. I love the machine, and only just got it for Christmas. It's a beast of a machine like. Aye they're going cheap now because their shelf life is all but over. Whoever bought it for you must not think very much of you. Link to comment
stirlingsheep
Was pretty underwhelmed with the PS4 to be honest. Though not a fanboy (I bought a PS3 and very quickly passed it on to my sister), it'd take a lot to get me away from the Xbox for the next generation. The main features they seem to want to get across - 1) You can download games - I only want to buy my games normally from outlets, where I can get a good deal, rather than from a set service. I'll happily download games. 2) You can play games while you download - see 1 3) You can watch other people playing - I'd rather play myself 4) You can share footage instantly. - This looks cool. The graphics shown were clever, though not a huge advance on current generation, but thats to be expected. Of the games shown Watch Dogs looked pretty awesome, though a bit GTA like. The hardware specs are awesome, and will provide developers a great platform to create things on. Weird launching a console without actually seeing the console though. Ball in MS court though Link to comment
