Bluto10
just recently ive seen two example of this springing up where i live. and by all accounts there are more on the go too. basically the concept is home cooked food delivered to your door.healthier and tastier than a takeaway but with the same convenience. one company specialises in soup. and another deals with tradional meals. all rely on the email/socialmedia medium to make an order. quite a good business model IMO and certaionly very little overheads. Bluto10
possibly. but its in vouge over here. you could probably make a killing where you are harcus. i imagine there isnt a wide range of exotic take aways in orkney. buy the ingredients. 20quid, say. then charge 20 quid per meal. deliver on your bike. sorted. spamspamspam
there's a couple of them popping up but its frozen and delivered rather than when you want it. I've always thought an Amsterdam style wok to wok would do a bomb on union st. If I was going to nick a Dutch takeaway idea it would be that one. It would be queued out the door every lunch time and at 3am if you could get the late opening licence. Link to comment

looksgoodinred
Sounds like a sound business plan with huge profit margins!! until some customer doesn't handle or refrigerate the food properly, or waits too long to eat it, and gets ill. or until the local authorities find you're delivering food from your home without a health inspection. i'd be wary of food coming from some people's homes myself. tup
I think bluto is obviously concerned about soup-through-a-straw face himself, daytripping. He's probably looking to get him a nice home cooked meal delivered, instead of the stuff they send round on the mongo bus, barely edible sludge containing unknown animals. Link to comment
Bluto10
Sounds like a sound business plan with huge profit margins!! exactamundo. the soup sells for 7euros. probably costs less than 1 euro to make when in large quantities.delivery by bycycle is free obvs. and the other company sell the meals (suitable for 4 apparently) for anything upwards of 30euros. again, i guess the costs would be only a few euros. when cooked at home there are obvioulsy no overheads. i would imagine you could easily do this as a side venture when still having a full time job. daytripping
I think it's a great idea pal, ignore the knockers. You can get every type of food delivered to your door except good old fashioned British food, the likes of Mac n Cheese, Chilli, shepherds pie etc all done in a home made fashion would be a winner. People are lazy and have money these days, it would be a winner. You'd need your hygiene and health licenses for the kitchen and start up cash but I think it would be successful. My mate owns Rawfresh and it's really taking off but that's more healthy eating at the office, your idea would be a niche. Link to comment

Sheep#1
Who the fuck would bother getting soup delivered to their house, let alone pay a fiver for it? The Dutch must have more money than sense Link to comment
