NorthernLights24
This Saturday is a historic day as Phoenix FC and their talismanic striker Darren Mackie kick off their first ever USL Pro League campaign with an away trip to Los Angeles Blues I know there is already a Darren Mackie thread that is several pages long but this is about the future and not the past. Perhaps more importantly it is also about the other two ex-Dons legends Scott Morrison and David Robertson. I see that the LA Blues also have a Scottish striker in the form of Allan Russell, a one season wonder who scored a few for Airdrie Utd. Killie thought "Fuck me he must be good" before realising he was shite, the fact he was playing for Airdrie really should have given that away. It would seem he was so bad he was instantly deported to the US following his release. Looks like the game might be available here - http://uslnation.com/ if you can stay up till 2:30am on Sunday or if you're just getting in from a night out and you're pished out of your mind and fancy a laugh. NorthernLights24
How far below the MLS is this? Level three on the pyramid - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_soccer_pyramid#Men.27s_league_system However it is all based on franchises so there is no relegation or promotion. Ke1t
Think I might invest in one for the loon The shirt, I mean... not Mackie. Although when his career's over he can maybe help my loon with his reading. Anyway, still in Red after all these years. And I think he's getting a sun tan. Link to comment
Ke1t
Mackie's lads go down to a 2-0 defeat to Los Angeles Blues Soccer, with a red card for one of the Phoenix players in the 41st minute. Mackie did NOT play... which will be the reason behind the defeat. 65 bucks for a shirt seems a lot, btw. Link to comment

NorthernLights24
1-0 win at home for Phoenix FC last night against Tampa Bay. No idea if Mackie played but from the picture in the match report below at least we know that Scott Morrison is getting a game. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/azetc/articles/20130330netinho-scores-phoenix-fcs-st-goal-in-win.html Link to comment

Ke1t
Dazzler makes his debut againt Orlando as a mid-second half substitute. Scott Morrison is probably the best player on the pitch... And Phoenix go down 2-1. Mackie gets into a fight within minutes of his debut. It's exciting stuff Link to comment
Ke1t
3-1 Orlando, full time. Should have been 4-1, but the Phoenix keeper saved a pen. Mackie can't have had more than two touches in his 25 or so minutes on the field, looking a bit isolated as Phoenix dropped further back as the game went on. Phoenix is pretty terrible. Morrison seemingly the best player they have. Their defence is utter mince, Morrison the only player who knew how to pass and tackle in Midfield, and Mackie starved of service... though the Dazzler did get into one fight, and knock heads with some other guy who came off worse than the Lion Cub. I thought he might struggle with the heat, but the game is played in the evening, so it should be starting to cool down a little.... it's currently 27 degrees in Arizona and 9:41pm. And the view of Downtown Phoenix right now, just to be comprehensive... Link to comment

Sonoftherock
https://www.facebook.com/phoenixfcwolves?hc_location=stream Not going well! beaten in the first round of the cup by a fully amateur team from a suburb of Phoenix! Mackie has only made one appearance from the bench - injured for the rest of the time! Phoenix are down near the bottom of the league and have only won two games all season! I've watched quite a few of the games at work - they are usually on about 9am Monday morning in Perth - and the standard is absolutely terrible. I think Phoenix would be beaten easily by a highland league side. Link to comment
Henry
Especially if it was a young Pickles-inspired Wick Academy. Link to comment

Sonoftherock
Friday morning at 3.30 am UK-time. Matches are all streamed online via USLpro tv or something like that... the picture quality is actually superb. EDIT: here - http://www.uslnation.com/USLPro/ IT. IS. ON. Phoenix FC's first league match in almost two weeks puts the Wolves against the Charlotte Eagles on Thursday, May 23, at 7:30 p.m. at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium in a match that will see forward Darren Mackie in the Wolves' starting lineup for the first time this season.Former Scottish Premier League standout Darren Mackie is the first player ever signed to play for Phoenix FC, and he was intended to be the centerpiece of a high-octane offense for the Wolves. Mackie suffered a groin injury early in training camp and has since been sidelined, making only one brief appearance off the bench. His addition to the starting lineup has been highly anticipated both in Phoenix and in international circles, where "The Dazzler" has a substantial following of devoted fans. Link to comment
