ericblack4boss
thought it might be interesting match up to ex players against each other and find out from folks who they thought was betre we will start with the two above. For me this is a tough one with out doubt Frank was an out and out striker an absoulute predator in the box but to be fair that also describes Shearer, the teams they played in were different McDougall had Black and Stark supporting, with service from Weir, Shearer was part of what i maintain was the best front four the club ever saw together Jess, Booth and Paatelainen all played alongside Shearer often all together they were backed up by Mason and Bett andso for me i cant split them just a pity we only had McDougall for a short spell before his career was cut short Link to comment
daytripping
Got to be Frank, just a lethal finisher, up there with the best, his 4 goals against Celtic will live with me forever, he destroyed them. Would have Shearer in my squad every day ahead of him though, one was a reliable grafter trying to make the best of a somewhat limited talent, the other is someone who had natural talent in abundance but obviously had major off field problems. tightbreeks
I preferred the blonde bomber macdougall, it's a damn shame he didn't get much of a sniff with Scotland. Archibald, he's a legend in Barcelona, that's no mean feat. Link to comment
Crossbow
Frank in his pomp was the superior striker; that is not to belittle Duncan, one of our greats. In my opinion. Link to comment
sheepiekev
A lot of folk on here won't have seen McDougall given it was best part of 30 years ago he signed. Link to comment

ollie1903
Not to belittle Shearer's contribution and ability in any way, but an absolute no brainer for me. McDougall any day of the week. Link to comment

McDougall any day of the week.Completely agree. You'll get a split here in the vote most likely. The younger ones will go for Shearer, the others of a certain vintage will pick McDougall. As you say, that's not to demean Shearer, as he'd be ideal in the current team alongside McGinn. Link to comment

OddJob
Sadly too young to remember McDougall but my old lady said he was an outstanding striker. I've seen the clips of him destroying the Old Firm and his hatrick away to Tynecastle and without a doubt looked superb in those clips. Shearer was immense too. Strong and had a fair strike on him too So i can't comment as never saw McDougall play in person Link to comment

Kilkito
I don't think anyone can make a decent case for Big Dunc having more talent than McDougall. I never got to see much of McDougall, him other than in videos, love his goal against Hearts at Tynecastle when he takes it on the volley without changing stride. Its a bit unfair on Big Dunc though, he was a fantastic signing for us, a great player, always rose to the occassion in the big games against the Huns, and a true gent off the pitch with a real affection for the Dons. I'd definitely say Dunc is a true Dons legend! 1 Link to comment
