ericblack4boss
this is one i threw in whilst not directly comparable position wise they are my two favourite AFC playersBlack, do i need to elaborate the man was just superb coiuld play out and out striker or off the front man thats why he linked so well with Mcghee and McDougall, goalscoring in big games was Erics forte! the biggest regret is only two caps for his country and NONE while in our colours he was unlucky to be around at the same time as other top strikers. Mason, what i loved about Paul was he was so direct , give him the ball and he will go forward no side ways passing or looking for a negative option only one thought get it forward, so versatlie could play midfield, winger, striker and was comfortable in all positions he is one player i would love to see in the Fergie era him alongside Strachan, Simpson ,McMaster, Bell , Weir now that would be tasty. sheepiekev
Black was a centre forwardMason, in the main was an attacking midfielder, although he did play up front for a while. Anyhoo.....Black, by a mile. Link to comment
daytripping
Yep not a great choice, Black by a Country mile, the best header we've ever had as well, the man could leap like a salmon! Link to comment

boboisared
and he will be a terrific manager for us someday!I see he runs a guest house but don't think Mason has the necessary experience to take the reigns at Aberdeen. Link to comment
RUL
Paul mason was my hero growing up but this comparison makes no sense, different types of players but we've been crying out for an attacking midfielder like him for about 18 years Link to comment

King Street Loon
Mason was the man. Don't remember watching Black.Mason I feel was vastly under rated down south. If he was playing for an English team (he was poor at Ipswich) then he might well have got a call up. Link to comment

King Street Loon
I gladly stand corrected. I like Mason.Very good player for us. Link to comment
WillemVan
Mason was not a flashy or particularly tricky winger/midfielder but he had a great habit of getting himself in goalscoring positions and he was a deadly finisher. He should have stayed and finished his career at Aberdeen. Link to comment
OddJob
Mason was a great player. What a midfield we had even in the late 80's / early 90's Mason. Bett. Grant. Connor Link to comment

ericblack4boss
agreed i thought Bobby Connor was an excellent left back i know when Robertson left Connor seemed to make his loss seem less of an impact Link to comment
