Your Favourite On The Bbq

Recommended Posts

summer's here and you can't help but love a BBQ.(not that i don't do it in winter too, but not as much)

anything off a grill is best. but my favourites have got to be either steak or salmon or sausages.

have you got a favourite?

and do you have a preference for charcoal or gas BBQs? (i choose gas, just because it's quicker and easier for me. i suck at starting charcoal grills.)

pork chops are great on the grill. i'm going to try them glazed with a port wine serrano pepper jelly this week. spicy. sweet. charred. i

do you feel it's bad form if someone gnaws the bone a bit when they're done (steak, pork chops)?

somehow it doesn't seem so bad (to me onywye) when you're sitting on a deck eating bbq with just family. and those charred bits taste so good.

That's cause it's mans work! I don't BBQ very often, usually only when I go on villa holidays in Cyprus, only once used gas and it just didn't cut the mustard.

Never tried steak on the BBQ but I bet it tastes lovely! We usually have some charcoal burned sausages :whistling: , a burger with melted cheese and sweet onion relish, a corn on the cob smothered in butter and a Greek salad on the side. Oh also tried pork chops with a piri piri marinade, they were fine anna.....I'm on a diet ivnoo and by fuck I would ham into all of the above right now

are you drooling Chief? :)

it's summer.. skip the "diet". eat some meat or fish and some veg grilled, and you can't go wrong. BBQs were made for good-for-you eating :)

you say it's mans work, but me -- a woman :) -- will go out when it's -30 C and still throw a slab o'meat on the grill and bring it to the table. i venture to say not many of you men would be willing to do that? :trophy:

I'd do it in shorts and flip flops, probably bare chested, and If you lived with me you ain't going near that barbie! it's in our genes from caveman days, the man catches and cooks, the woman stays away from the fire and makes herself pretty for after dinner.

Love fish on a barby but there's always some veggie cock or something who objects to it being anywhere near anything they're eating.

if you get a really big cave-man style grill with lots of grilling surface, you can put the vegetarian stuff in a metal sort of tray.. so it doesn't touch the grill or other things. or are the meat fumes wafting over their food enough to contaminate it? :(

Vegetarians are normally either:

i) Poofters

ii) Folk with a medical issue

iii) Fearty wimmin

There's no real reason why a biped with forward facing ocular capability and incisors should not be eating meat - unless they fall into one of the categories above.

On a barbie I do like very thinly sliced marinated steak - just about two minutes on the hot plate. Any kind of steak really - that's what BBQs are for - steak.

Plenty food.

The quality is sometimes questionable.

You get the odd treat but in the main its usually the same stuff re heated thrown in a pizza, pie, stir fry or pasta.

with the amount of money that oil companies seem to spend on all kinds of other stuff, you'd think they could hire decent cooks to stir up some good food while you're off-shore? :(

All comes down to the budget which is mostly poor especially on drilling rigs. Depends the chef though some do a good job with what they've got others seem to make do with serving pish.
