Lexus is the badge of a minker who thinks he's middle management...a trumped up Toyota with about as much kerb appeal as a $20 hooker...the sort of car Derek aspires to own...come on cow you need to up your game pronto chief

You probably drive an Audi or a Merc :hysterical:

I'd sooner sell the house than leave the brand.

I know fuck all about cars.

What's the difference between Lexus, Skoda and the car I drive?

Seriously?

Car talk. Zzzz. 'I have a beamer eh, it's fast as fuck'. Aye? I get to my work on time - and my car is a silver one.

Who gives a fuck.

Cars - pfffft, it's like handbags and shoes for girls that sort of chat. Weirdos.

nowt wrong with cars berto.

its people that talk about 'brakehorse', body kits/spoilers, recaro seats and dump valves that you need to be avoid at all costs.

buying a car is easy.

unless your super rich you buy german (mercs are the classiest, then bmws. followed by audi as the cheap option).

if you want something different and affordable you go for classy italian styling i.e. aalfa romeo or a fiat 500.

thats about all there is to my car chat.

You would need to sell a hoorin amount of photos to be able to afford an 8 year old Fabia like I've got.

 I knew you were a man of class!

I'm also in the camp of nae caring what the BHP or 0-60 of my motor is. I'm more interested in an usb plug for my iPod and heated seats.

Brilliant cw. Great find.

The genius of that observation extended well beyond cars but brand-loyalty is a weird one. It's huge, and manufacturers spend billions trying to foster it in a whole range of products e.g. fashion and style, cosmetics etc. but those who do become brand-loyal are usually very sad individuals.

I will choose certain brands because of the consistent quality of the product, until that quality diminishes and I then widen the horizons and options. Being brand-loyal for the sake of belonging to what that brand supposedly represents is the most tragic. Advertising and marketing companies have created billion dollar industries from playing people, and most of the people don't even know that they're being played.

Yes, but Lexus in "the pursuit of perfection" are raising the bar. The world has been enriched since 1989.

I often joke with my friends I'd like to be buried in my Lexus!

While I agree about brand loyalty (hence why I no longer shop in Tesco, visit certain restaurants, vote Labour) the Lexus is evolving and raising the bar in the pursuit of perfection.

A silver one.

There is an advert on the TV just now, Auto Trader or something like that, which shows a convoy of cars on the road, gradually whittling down as some female tries to decide what she wants. The first common trait in the cars on the road is that they are all red, not a specific make, model or type of car (hatchback, saloon, estate etc). It always raises a chuckle with me...

I don't have a car. I'd probably go for something cheap and French if I was looking for one, something with some good mpg.

Never understood the fanboiery around Lexus or Audi... mid range cars with nothing particularly special about them.

Some people seem to see them as a status symbol, though what 'mid price' is meant to represent I'm not sure.

Look at me, I can afford a car that costs very slightly more than average.

I'm genuinely baffled.

How can you agree about my points on brand loyalty when you are so patently brand-blinded?

Perfection, eh? You believe this shit? How come some cars cost much more than any Lexus then, some hundreds of thousands more? Do people pay more for less perfect, or is the concept of perfection in car-making just plain dumb? Maybe the dumb believe it?

If reliability and functionality is the contest then yes, the Lexus will be out there. It's a big Toyota after all and Toyoda of all the volume manufacturers make the more reliable cars. Not the most reliable - that was Mitsubishi last I looked - but certainly more reliable than the other volume manufacturers, as Japanese tend to be.

In terms of design and driving though, the Lexus is very much like Toyota, utterly boring and bland. The japs just don't do luxury cars. I remember looking at an upmarket Mazda 20 years ago but didn't even take it for a test drive. It was so boring I can't even remember the luxury brand name they gave to it. It obviously didn't take off.

Would agree about the VAG group though. I was behind a 13 plate Skoda Octavia today. Horrible triangular shit going on and rear lights that were just like A4's. The A4 is a Passat is an Octavia and yet dfrerent folk with different aspirationals will spend what they think their status deserves. It's utterly insane, spending different amounts to get what is essentially the same product. My wife said she fancied the new Scirocco and not that I give a fuck about cars but I put my foot down there. VW's are as boring as Lexii and no fucking chance on earth would I ever drive a VAG product.

Yes there are more expensive cars. You could buy some vintage thing for £500,000 quid. You're obsessing about money again min.

Have you bothered to look at the video of the F-sport? It's fucking amazing. I'd take it over any Ferrari or 'Hey, look at me', car. You want a bloody good car, one that screams quality, one that's both outrageously good, yet understated. Lexus are streets ahead of everything else and they look the part (with the exception of the Jeep) which looks awful just like every other SUV.

Can you believe people buy the Nissan Quashqai or whatever it's called. I simply couldn't be friends with anyone like this.
