why the hesitation? from what i read, she was 14 when he "befriended" her (and he 28), and just after her 15th birthday when they started having sex. regardless of how close she was to a legal age, the fact is she wasn't legal. taking away the fact he was a teacher for the moment, presumably a grown man would, and could, wait.

 

but he was her teacher. i agree with the judge's comment that "It was his [your] duty as a teacher to stop her infatuation not to fuel it."

I don't think you're fully understanding the male psyche, LGIR... which actually surprises me, because I've long suspected you have just about a 100% handle on the male psyche.

 

There's likely not a straight male, regardless of age, who wouldn't bang a 16 year old who was coming on to him.

no i understand that completely. as i was dating a 28 year old man when i was 16.

 

the point is, in this particular case, what the teacher did is illegal. at some point, it's like using your cell phone and texting while driving. you know it's illegal, but you choose to live with the consequences should you get caught. this guy deserves what he got. he knew what the outcome might be (apparently he'd researched it quite deliberately), so i'm not feeling much pity for him.

 

EDIT: it was not illegal in Canada at 16 though.
