Sonoftherock
Probably worth a thread of its own, as I doubt Andy Murray will be the only talking point over the next couple of weeks. Lop-sided draw sees Nadal, Federer and Murray in action tomorrow. However Murray has a pretty clear run until Tsonga in Quarters. Murray has always had the measure of Tsonga on grass, so that'll set up a semi with Federer or Nadal! Fancy Nadal to make it through that... although it'll be interesting to see what sort of shape he's in after the French. If he gets that far, I'd prefer Murray against Federer - Nadal has a good record against Murray at Wimbledon and I think Murray knows what he needs to do to beat Federer on grass. Looking very good for Djokovic though! Not much in his path 'till the final. Link to comment
diamondsr4ever
I dont think Nadal will get past the 1/4's, I think his days are over on grass. Murray will have a very tough match today, I think he will win 3-1 today, but it will be closer than everyone is thinking. Murray has a massive chance this year, missing the French may have just worked out really well for him Link to comment
ChutneyLove
Murray will win it this year. He's got a major in the hipper already - now he'll get Wimbledon out the way. His game has changed in the last couple of years - doesn't bother him so much if he goes a set down. Important in majors. I disagree with diamonds though, I don't think he'll lose a set until the semi. Link to comment
Tyrant
I'm predicting a Djokovic and Nadal final. Nadal's health is fine. There's no danger of Federer ever beating Nadal, Djokovic or Murray again in a major (unless it's Murray on a clay court ) so not worried about Federer. I'd love Federer to put out Nadal but there's no danger of that i don't think. I also have Murray on to win at 10/1 thanks to paddy power. The only time I've ever put money on Murray before was the day after the Wimbledon final last year. I stuck £20 on him winning the US Open. Anyway. Is brilliant as Murray is there are still better players (even on grass) and to beat Tsonga, Nadal and then Djokovic back to back in a major is a frigging tall order. That said I don't think he'll have too many problems against Tsonga. But he's more than capable of nicking at least a set off of Murray. Murray needs to be as rested as possible to give him the best chance. He got a lot more rest at Flushing Meadows than Djokovic did and even then Djokovic threatened to nick it form 2 sets down. Good bye work for the next 2 weeks. Link to comment
Sonoftherock
Pretty hard to look past Djokovic for this one. He should probably have beaten Nadal at the French. He has a cake-walk to the final, while Murray, Nadal and Federer have an absolute shit fight on their hands. I actually think Djokovic will win this very easily. I think he's the best player in the world by a fair distance now and I expect him to win both Wimbledon and the US Open. Only worry is that he'll be under-cooked coming into the final, as all the top grass court players are on the other side of the draw. Link to comment
slippers
Iv got 4k dutched across Djokovic, Murray and Nadal! Just hope Fed dosnt make it past semi's. Not sure if I will trade or not, disaster if I call it wrong! Link to comment

Not sure if I will trade or not, disaster if I call it wrong! Pray for the rains to stay away. Indoors on grass Federer still has a chance. Don't think Fed is as bad as everyone's saying anyway... the major problem is the lopside nature of the draw. He'll likely have to beat two of Murray, Tsonga and Nadal to make the final. I don't think he can match Nadal, Djokovic or Murray physically anymore. Certainly not in the latter stages of a grand slam. Although it does seem mental that I'm writing off a genius like Federer. I think I'm right though. Although there were certainly no problems for him today. Link to comment

Although it does seem mental that I'm writing off a genius like Federer. I think I'm right though. Although there were certainly no problems for him today. I think you are wrong. He's still in terrific shape and took about 2 months off tour to rest earlier in the year, to make sure he's fresh. Won't be a problem physically IMO. He'll be tough to beat at Wimbledon - particularly if it rains. It's his best surface by far and he's going to be up for it. If the forecast is for rain, I will be placing money on Federer to beat Nadal. It's all academic anyway though, as Djokovic is too strong right now. He'll pick off whichever one of them makes it though to the final. Link to comment
Tyrant
Nor last year when he was crowned champion... I don't think anyone was writing him off last year? Fair enough SOTR. I still think he'll advance fairly deep into the tournament. But I'll go out on a limb and say he won't get close to getting past Murray or Nadal. Agreed on Djokovic though. Too strong. Sonoftherock
Nadal has just gone a set down to some Belgian guy ranked 113! You often get this in the first couple of rounds of a major, when you get one of the big boys against a real minnow. The minnow comes out and just smashes through everything! It's brilliant to watch, but he'll never keep it up over three sets! The boys is just swinging like his life is depending on it... and everything is going in! 1 Link to comment

Sonoftherock
Indeed. But you never know. It just might be another Lukas Rosol moment! Nadal isn't moving really well, but I think he's just taking time to get adjusted. He didn't play a warm up on grass, preferring to rest his knee. Link to comment
Sonoftherock
Indeed. But you never know. It just might be another Lukas Rosol moment! You never know! Darcis has just gone up two sets to love! Nadal is looking really inhibited, not moving comfortably at all! Not himself at all! Can he keep this up! Darcis is starting to look very tired! Amazing stuff on the first day! Link to comment
K-9
Darcis could have won that set many times over but nerves or fatigue (or both) seemed to get hold of him there. Nadal probably still win though Link to comment

Monkey
Nadal moving very poorly. Might be another upset this year. Link to comment

Sonoftherock
He can't hit his backhands because the knee wont support him! He keeps running round to hit on his forehand! Darcis just needs to keep hitting it to his backhand! Link to comment

OddJob
2 years on the bounce for Nadal. Does anyone think he'll win another major (other than the French Open)? Easy win for Murray, great news. Link to comment
Foster14
I don't think this is the best news from a Murray perspective. He'd surely have preferred Federer v (fit) Nadal in the Quarter Final, to take a bit more out of the winning player. As it stands, he'll face Tsonga, a relativey untested Federer and a relatively untested Djokovic in the Quarters/Semis/Finals. Link to comment
Huntlysheep
Nadal's finished on hard & grass, it's the age of Murray & Djokovic as the top two, Federer is a spent force he's too old now. Link to comment

Nope, I dont think Nadal will ever win wimbledon again, the amount of movement required around the court and his continual knee problems are the issue, I can see him retiring in the next 1-2 years, or at least very limited appearances.
