Ke1t
I believe you make your own digital music... what software and hardware do you use? I'm what's known in the music business as talentless, but I'm currently moderately interested in knocking a few tunes together for videos and personal listening, and I'm always looking to try out new things. I guess I'm interested in understanding the process you follow to bang out a tune. Question is open to anyone who makes their own music, obviously. Link to comment

fatjim
You can make good enough tunes using software like sound forge and acid. If you are just looking to make basic tunes. Link to comment
spamspamspam
you want to chuck something together easily and cheaply and you're not too worried about lots of functions and add ons then picking up an old copy of cubase will do you nicely. I'm using a mix of Ableton, maschine and traktor for my stuff at the moment. Out of those, maschine is probably the easiest to use and the most fun. Means spending a wee bit of filthy though, $300 gets you maschine mikro software and controller. You can take samples and beats in maschine, stretch them, blend them, totally fuck around with them and come up with all your own sounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0K2aynMMBpo 1 Link to comment

terenceandphilip
just listen to what you're playing cos sounds, like words, flow together. It's all about harmonics and flow and structure. You don't need to be able to read music to write it. music = art + maths Link to comment
