Sheeptastic
Recently Falkirk FC confirmed they would be installing an artificial pitch and the majority of their fans (or at least the sensible ones) are happy with the move as it'll mean less postponements, good surface, greater involvement for the community and revenue in that respect etc. Not sure what the ruling is for this in the SPL, but would you like to see us go down a similar route at some point? Whether that be in a new stadium or the current one. Link to comment

Fair enough these surfaces have improved massively over the years but they are still not like the real thing & still mean players have to change their games to play on them. Besides, we've already been trying the artificial players route for years & that's been a massive failure Link to comment
Dal Riata Don
If it is about non-postponement of games then I'd rather the SPL took a winter break. What is the state of artificial grass these days - i.e. how similar to grass is it regarding the bounce & run of the ball, are players more susceptible to injury when sliding or pulling up quickly and does UEFA approve its use should we make the Europa League (I can hope)? If it is as good as grass concerning the above then I've got no problem but I'd hate to have it only for us to be disadvantaged when playing on actual grass. Link to comment

I think with all the potential benefits, it would be something worth consideration. Link to comment

Sheeptastic
Given the choice of playing on artificial fibers all season or having a winter break, which would you take though? How long is a winter break intended to be? The problem of postponements can start as early as November and last until February, so there's always going to be that problem unless you wiped out four months of a season. The thing that appealed to me more about artificial pitches is the extra money that could be brought in by letting the pitch be hired during the week. Added to that it'd be pretty cool for fans to be able to hire a third of the pitch for 7 asides or what not, and could also be used for other community projects. Link to comment

That's what training pitches could & should be used for. A professional club should not have to rent out their home surface to make extra coin. The Home surface should ONLY be used for first team games in league & cup & should be treated like a very valuable & precious asset to the first team side & not allow any other riffraff anywhere near it.Ok the odd concert if they must & maybe the odd U20's BIG games but that's it. & CERTAINLY NO FUCKING EGG CHASERS Should be a massive privilege to get on the surface & not hired out to a bunch of fucking twats out on a team building day out Link to comment
Patty
Falkirk are getting an artificial pitch installed? Good. Was on the pitch last Sunday for the Quo gig. It was horrible! No wonder it was in such horrible condition. Link to comment

If local kids clubs and charities want to use it it should be free or include nominal costs only. The Home surface should ONLY be used for first team games in league & cup & should be treated like a very valuable & precious asset to the first team sideAgree but see the above. & not allow any other riffraff anywhere near it.That riffraff are members of the local community and likely fans, the exact people that the club should be trying to attract to the club in droves.Ok the odd concert if they must & maybe the odd U20's BIG games but that's it.Should be a massive privilege to get on the surface & not hired out to a bunch of fucking twats out on a team building day out Not sure about corporate events - if it helps us get sponsors/ further business links in the community then I'm not dead against it but kids clubs and charities should take precedence. caledonia
should give us an advantage over others without one.but agree winter shutdown to be a better choice Link to comment

HH_is_back
I would be tempted with an artificial pitch as the Pittodrie pitch has been shit the last few seasons. The upkeep and expenditure savings plus potential income could potentially pay for it over a season. Link to comment

I've only been to stadium gigs at Murrayfield, Hampden & Wembley though - is it normally just the grass when bands play Pittodrie? Link to comment
