NorthernLights24
Thurrock's relegation for fielding a player who had not paid a £16 fine has been confirmed after the Football Association rejected their appeal. Their three-point deduction relegates them to Isthmian Division One North. Joel Barnett was banned, having played for a team in Yorkshire that folded with unpaid fines, the cost of which was then spread throughout its staff. Thurrock owner Tommy South told BBC Essex: "Joel should have told us but he never knew because he was in prison." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23259898 The bit about prison caught my eye. What could he have done? Turns out he is proper naughty.. Faces of family of football yobs who marred Huddersfield Town's play-off day at Old Trafford Joel also pleaded guilty to a further charge of causing damage by defecating in a police van. Can't really have much sympathy for Thurrock, if you sign minks like this then what do you expect? Link to comment
