Guest
Has this not been posted elsewhere? Declan McManus is being loaned to Alloa for 6 months. Probably a good move as he'll not get much game time here. Hopefully he bangs them in and we can bring him back ready to compete head to head with Vernon/Zola/Magennis. Link to comment
Stoney
good move, hopefully he does well Link to comment
Tord31
1st division excellent level for him to play at if he gets enough games. Don't imagine Alloa will be banging the goals in this season though. Link to comment
Huntlysheep
Will do well under the guideance of Paul Hartley. Link to comment
ScottishJohn
Good move but he's better than Cammy Smith who gets alot more chances. Link to comment
K-9
Can't believe the lad hasn't featured more in our first team but reckon this move could do him world of good in first division and come back far better player. Link to comment

Though personally I'd have preferred to see him get some of that game time ahead of the likes of Vernon.Hopefully he can net a few and build from there, ready to help out with our push for the title when he comes back in January... Good move but he's better than Cammy Smith who gets alot more chances. I think this too. Link to comment

Think this is a good decision. The player has nothing more to prove at U20 level. He either joins up with our first team or goes on loan somewhere else to play first team football. Could be the making of him this season, as Alloa are really going to be up against it in the first division. Link to comment
tup
More likely his career at the Dons is drawing to a close, Alloa are pish. 1 Link to comment
Sonoftherock
More likely his career at the Dons is drawing to a close, Alloa are pish. Seemed to do Nicky Low some good. He was at Alloa for the first 6 months of last season (when they were in the second division) and I think he'll see plenty of action in our first team this season. Link to comment
tup
Yes the key thing being they were a big fish in the second division. They will be getting pummeled every week in the first, canna see this doing him any good. He's another Megginson, not quite good enough. Link to comment

Alternatively, it could be the making of him - doing it tough for 6 months. Might toughen him up a bit. He'll not have many chances to score at Alloa, so we'll find out how clinical he is... he won't be scoring hat-tricks every week like he was for the U20s! Link to comment
tup
We'll see aye, would have been better for him to go to a better club in the first like Dundee or Falkirk. Link to comment
Redmist1903
He's another Megginson, not quite good enough. How many times have you saw him in action to form this opinion Tup? Link to comment
Tommy
INCREDIBLE how many folk reply to tup the guy doesnt go to games and has literally ZERO idea about mcmanus's footballing abilitiesA bit disrespectful Frankie.I'm sure Derek Adam's is updating him on his progress. 1 Link to comment
tup
Shut up Millertime you fat weegie prick. I have seen him play a full 90 against the scorries last year and score 2 goals. He was very thin at the time but in my opinion he won't make it at SPL level. 2 1 Link to comment
tup
In an ideal world, aye. I dinna see it happening, I say he will find his true level. Link to comment
Tommy
Fingers crossed it works out for him like it seems to have done with Low. Link to comment
buchanskii
Make or break for him I reckon. It seems he's about 6th in the pecking order behind even 17yr old Shankland. Hopefully it does him the world of good and he comes back to challenge the vulerable Vernon & Magennis, who I assume are in the last chance saloon this season. Link to comment

diamondsr4ever
Simple fact is....if he was good enough, he'd be in the managers thoughts....he aint and at 19, he should be. Link to comment

diamondsr4ever
im sure he'll do well, maybe mcinnes dosent think he'll get much game time in front of Mcginn, Zola,Vernon and Josh, which will probably be the case, however you'd want to see a 19yr old striker pushing for a start/place in the side, seems to me this could be his chance to put himself in the shop window? Byrne Baby Byrne
Nah. He needs games. Not sub appearances and maybe the odd game. If there was still a reserve league this would be less of a problem Link to comment
Edinburgh_sheep
Hopefully this turns out to be a good move for the lad. Take Stevie May for example at St Johnstone, he has spent the last couple of seasons on loan to lower league teams and scored a lot. He just scored against Rosenborg and will most likely be given more first team games this year. Hopefully McManus can prove he's a goal scorer and push for a place in the first team, this loan move can only be beneficial Link to comment
Guest
Don't forget that McInnes recently stated that he may have to let a couple of the younger lads go out on loan, seeing as he'd just taken in Hector. Alloa will be covering Dec's wages, which I'm sure aren't that much, but with another player, like Storie perhaps, this could balance the budget. I also think it does no harm to let these guys find their feet at a lower level and see what they're made of. Link to comment
Tord31
Rogers, Masson & Storie would be the other candidates to go out on loan Link to comment
