Aspartame

I see the Soft Drinks industry (Coca Cola in particular) is about to launch a campaign, in the face of very slightly declining sales, over the safety of the artificial sweetener, Aspartame.

Any time the wife drinks diet coke or Pepsi she gets migraines, any time I drink it it makes my legs bleed. Other people claim it does everything from giving you cancer to brain disorders...

...whether the latter is true or not, from my own experience artificial sweetener is not healthy.

Trying to think what the Pro-Aspartame Ad Campaign is going to be.

Aspartame... You Can't Prove Fuck All!

Anyone suffered adverse effects from artificial sweetener, or do you eat it straight out of the packet with no side-effects.

All soft drinks are bad news. Stick to water.

I've seen studies that suggest 2 things about artificial sweeteners.

1. People will have a diet drink and then rationalize that it's ok to then have a 1,000 calorie meal rather than a healthier option.

2. Sweeteners stimulate the body into expecting sugar. When that sugar doesn't arrive the body stops the stimulation. However, over time, drinking juice with artificial sweeteners will cause the body to fail to recognize real sugar which leads to it not being processed properly which leads to problems.

What do you mean it makes your legs bleed?

What do you mean it makes your legs bleed?

I mean that after a couple of bottles or cans of diet drink my legs develop open sores, which start bleeding. If I proceed to say, 'fuck it' and keep drinking diet then the sores will start to spread further up my legs.

It also makes me nervous and paranoid to a certain extent... I noticed that I'd lie awake, not be able to get comfortable and be freaking out for no reason.

Took a while for me to pin the cause down to diet drinks, but sure enough any time I drank even one or two I'd start bleeding at the legs and acting like Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

The wife gets splitting headaches with them. She didn't believe it was the Aspartame until I persuaded her to quit drinking them. Almost immediately the headaches stopped.

In my experience the stuff is brutal to the human body...

That sounds like sugar free stigmata.

The fact that aspartame was ultimately pushed through and unleashed on the world by the evil, murderous, war-mongering, psychopath Donald Rumsfeld is enough to make me steer well clear of the stuff.

Edit: Has anyone noticed just how many "full fat" soft drinks now contain sugar AND sweeteners? No escaping that toxic poison...

never seen any stories so not fishing but have a question

About 3 years ago i stopped taking suger in my tea/coffee as i thought it was not good for me especially if you drink a lot

was not to keen on the taste so started taking the artificial sweeteners (not sure what its called but its white with a green lid and very small pills pop out by pressing the top green part)

so are you saying this is not good for you

Any study I've ever seen on artificial sweeteners have pointed to increased instances of cancers, leukemia, tumors and a variety of other health issues. The only thing I know for a fact is that it makes my skin tear open, and makes me mentally twitchy.

I quit taking any artificial sweeteners some time ago and my legs are fine and I have no problems sleeping now.

I think more people are getting wise to this shit.

I was going to delve into this. Talk about how it's a load of shit; the nonsense about every study showing its bad (balls), the excitotoxicity of it (uh hu) and how it makes your body forget how to deal with sugar (really.. you have no carbs in your diet at all?)

Then thought... nah fuck it. Aye it's terrible for you all. You'll die of cancer and gayness if you consume foodstuffs with it.

:clangers2:

Sucralose is modified sucrose with zero calorific content. Stevia is a plant based sweetener. Both are hundreds of times sweeter than sucrose so much less is needed to get the same sweetness.

Don't believe the kind of ditsy shite you find from "Nancy Markle" or "Betty Martini" or from pushers or books, or "Naturalfoodisgaia.com" or whatever other fucking cuckoo land bull there is out there.

Jesus wept... said more than I was going to.

If you've got PKU avoid aspartame. Otherwise have at it ffs.
