Henry
Shaun Maloney will miss Scotland's final World Cup qualifier against Croatia at Hampden on 15 October because of a back problem. Steven Fletcher is another absentee, with the Sunderland striker recovering from a shoulder injury. Full-back Steven Whittaker is suspended but goalkeeper Allan McGregor returns from a ban and injury. Brighton defender Gordon Greer is the only uncapped player in Gordon Strachan's 24-man squad. Lee Wallace, Craig Bryson and Chris Burke retain their places after late call-ups for the last set of matches. James Forest, who has just returned for Celtic following respiratory difficulties and sciatica, Jamie Mackie, Craig Samson and Craig Conway miss out having been selected for the games against Belgium and Macedonia. Goalkeepers: Matt Gilks (Blackpool), David Marshall (Cardiff City), Allan McGregor (Hull City) Defenders: Gordon Greer (Brighton and Hove Albion), Grant Hanley (Blackburn Rovers), Alan Hutton (Aston Villa), Russell Martin (Norwich City), Charlie Mulgrew (Celtic), Lee Wallace (Rangers) Midfielders: Charlie Adam (Stoke City), Ikechi Anya (Watford), Barry Bannan (Crystal Palace), Scott Brown (Celtic), Craig Bryson (Derby County), Chris Burke (Birmingham City), Graham Dorrans (West Bromwich Albion), James Morrison (West Bromwich Albion), James McArthur (Wigan Athletic), Robert Snodgrass (Norwich City) Forwards: George Boyd (Hull City), Leigh Griffiths (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Ross McCormack (Leeds United), Steven Naismith (Everton), Jordan Rhodes (Blackburn Rovers). Peterheid Dave
Another Scottish game I will miss. All the games seem to have landed whilst I am away this time. Getting a better feeling about Scotland now, there is definitely signs of improvment under Strachan and I think we can get something from this game. Going for a draw. Link to comment

The Hulk
We've never lost to Croatia, there's no reason to expect anything other than a competitive game at Hampden. We really need to win this one so we don't go through the group without a home win and a chance to save some face and finish on a high. The home games have been dire. I'm still wavering over whether to go or not. I'd have liked to have seen Scott Arfield called up, he's done really well with Burnley this season, maybe the USA friendly will see him get a shout. Stoneybloke
So this will mean yet another gap in the fixture calendar. Hardly seems any time since the last one. Difficult to see what advantage these breaks create. Link to comment

Where has he been playing for Burnley? Out wide or in CM? Quite a lot of competition for a central midfield place right now. Craig Bryson has scored 6 goals in 10 games for a struggling Derby side and he can't get a look in. Link to comment
Stoney
Given the nature of the national team should this not be in EPL chat. Link to comment

Still though you're right to say that at this moment in time we're pretty well served in midfield - Bryson deserves his call-up, playing well in a poor Derby side. Just don't know where the next decent Scottish central defender is going to come from, Martin and Hanley have done OK, but I'm just not convinced by them. Link to comment
