The channel I used to watch my fitba on, Fox Soccer Channel, just up and turned itself into a light entertainment channel, showing pretty much 24 chick flicks and sitcoms, and informercials for Suck Cuts and Shake Weights.

 

I figured FOX being FOX they'd just dumped it for no logical reason, and fuck you soccerball fans.

 

Turns out the rising popularity of the sport meant that when it came to fitba/soccerball it's becoming so popular that there was competition for the rights to EPL football, and FOX was outbid... leaving them with the rights to a few European matches that didn't merit a channel dedicated to fitba.

 

NBC now owns the rights, being the network that won the rights. That's won the rights to show fitba, not were left with space filler that no-one else wanted.

 

Right now I'm watching the Southamptons versus the Tottenham Hotspurts. It's tied at 1 to 1 with the Hotspurts on the offense.

 

Also, the young Yanks played the Brazilians, English, and Portugese in an U17s tournament last week, Team Americaland winning the Nike Tournament in a 4-1 final match against the Brazilians.

 

The Brazilians had a couple of lads sent off, then shortly before the final whistle they took the huff and refused to play.

 

USA starting to produce some decent young players, it seems.
