Want Asbestos Check On Artex

Wanting to get my artex ceiling checked for asbestos before I decide to start cutting and adding lights.

 

Are there any companies that people could recommend for this in the Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire area?

1975 so could contain white asbestos. Just moving in and the seller couldn't tell me when the artex was applied.

I'd err on the side of caution as jigot says and get it checked over by either Polish or Romainians.

The company I know will only deal with houses up to and including 1974.

Obviously not interested in low level risk kiddony shit. Get some one to hold a hoover on the area disturbed, double bag the off cuttings and dump it in the wheelie bin of the neighbor who has a UJ flying from his shed.

Kiriakov min, it's a pretty safe bet that it'll contain asbestos. But not a lot andnot the nastiest stuff. The white stuff is much less harmful than brown, that's a lesson that plenty of experts will tell you.

 

A shortcut to it would be to put some wpaper paste on & around the area by a few inches & wear a p3 dust mask & paper suit. keep room well vented.

 

Alternatively, you can get a chemical that strips artex by dissolving it to a paste that can be taken off w a scraper. I don't recall what it's called but it exists. Presuming the artex finish is rough, you won't get lights to sit flush in ceiling & you'll get moisture & light leakage.

I hate artex, 1970's crap, get it skimmed then just cut the holes, with a mask on you'll be fine.
