STANDfreeSCOTTY
Ian Redford has been found dead. He was on Off the Bawl the other week, sounded a really decent guy. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-25690983 Link to comment
tightbreeks
I heard that "edition" as well. he was a country lad, I didn't know he was hard of hearing, and he came across as a really decent lad. sad. Link to comment
Guest
My wife telt me about this before I went out for the game. All I know about him was that he made a seemingly mad decision to turn into a golf professional with the intention of tackling the seniors tour. It also seemed rather mad that he encouraged his teenage son to turn pro too, when there was nothing in either of their records to suggest that this was a sane and rational decision. Now the wife is telling me that she read that he wrote a book that was published last month where he bared his soul, and it was possibly too honest an expose. Any man driven to take his own life is tragic. We can never imagine the state of mind that he found himself in. RIP min. Link to comment

ericblack4boss
My earliest memories was in the Dundee Utd UEFA cup run, he was superb in midfield alongside Jim McInally, and Dave Bowman a farmer's son and a shame to hear about him. Hope it wasn't depression having been there one can only imagine what he was feeling Link to comment

The Lighthouse
Tragic news about Ian Redford. A really classy player in his day and by all accounts a thoroughly decent individual. RIP Link to comment
ericblack4boss
Having had a chance to think back to that United side he played in, it was yet another example of a skilled ,quality player being overlooked by the national side along with Bell, McMaster, Stark. Black, , and to a lesser extent Bannon, Weir, Milne, Ritchie. All had to watch ans see far less gifted players like McInally, Bowman.Ian Wilson. Gary MacKay all gain international recognition ahead of them and as I've stated before It proves my point that the 1980s was the wasted generation. Link to comment
tightbreeks
should've just played the Aberdeen first team in spain '82. or are you not allowed to do that. Kenny dalglish might get on for the last five minutes. Link to comment

ericblack4boss
Aye I know that but only won around half a dozen caps. Are you saying that Ian Wilson, Jim McInally. And Dave Bowman deserved more caps than Eamonn? Link to comment
