Clydeside_Sheep
Whats the best non-AFC games you have been at, not including Scotland games? And why? I haven't been to many non-AFC games. These ones below all feature dubious teams, but enjoyable for various reasons: 1) Huns versus Ajax Amsterdam, at Snake Mountain (late 90s). My Orcish frie......er, "acquaintance" got 2 free tickets for the Ajax end so we went in there with all the dutch. I really enjoyed the game, mainly because the huns got beat and my Orcish acquaintance was the only person (that I saw) who was struck by a coin thrown by the rangers support. ho ho ho. 2) Huns versus ra sellick - beam-back game at Snake Mountain (late 90s). Same Orcish acquaintance asked me to go and I did (surprisingly) as it was only about £5 to get in. It was mobbed, 3 stands chock full of the Orcs. I tried to appear relaxed and unhygienic, in order to blend in with the huns. I made a big show of picking my nose and eating it etc, so none of them would become suspicious that I was an interloper. It turned out it was the game sellick f*cked them 5-1, so I had a great time sniggering to myself and watching them all rant and rave and storm out in fury. Though I was becoming concerned my beaming smile or obvious erection might ultimately give me away. My mate was in a black mood and wanted to leave early, but I refused saying I had spent good money to get in, and so we were there to the bitter end. And it was a very bitter end, I can assure you. 3) Chelsea - Fulham at Stamford Bridge (2001). Only English game I have ever been to, so it was interesting for that, oh and I was pleasantly surprised to find alcohol on sale in the ground. Link to comment

granite sheep
Man United getting pumped 3-1 by Liverpool at Anfield a couple or years back is my best in recent times. Was in the Kop with a couple of mates for that one, felt a tap on my shoulder, couple of boys I kent fae Peterhead had driven down themselves and were behind us, wound up the lot of us belting out AFC chants, wisely substituting Liverpool for Aberdeen so as not to be thinned by irate scousers. Magic. Link to comment
Foster14
Ajax 4-1 PSV in March 2010 (I think). Suarez was still there, think it was the fixture early the next season he bit the PSV boy. Anyway, atmosphere was superb and Ajax were very good that day. Suarez ran the show. Hertha Berlin 2-2 Union Berlin in February 2013. Bundesliga 2 game, but still sold out the Olympiastadion. Atmosphere was awesome with 30,000 Union fans. Game was alright, not the best quality, but very competitive. All fans mingling together pre-game, beer aplenty outside and inside. Link to comment

dervish
Real vs Racing, stayed back in madrid specifically for it. Bought tickets off a tout for me and my bro convinced ourselves they were fake (they looked it!). Paid extra for better ones turns out were the shitest in the statium (though better than the back of the dick!). In a word class. Saw Raul playing and loads of others, Robinho doing keepie-uppy at one point then Robben getting the last 15mins or something. Also met dandies from Wick in the line for a tour there(literally right behind us). Link to comment

vanderark14
Fraserburgh 6-3 Peterhead Aberdeenshire Shield final. Peterhead were up 3-0 with 20 minutes to go, the broch pull it back to 3-3 and score another 3 in extra time. The game was played at Cove's ground. I've been to a Merseyside derby which ended 2-2 but it wasn't a very exciting game. Out with Aberdeen, Scotland and Fraserburgh I haven't really went to a lot of football matches. Link to comment
Robbie Winters
2004 Norwegian Cup Final . Brann Bergen 4 Lyn Oslo 1, Brann Scorers Saeternes 3 Robbie Winters 1 Best experience was a Newcastle Spurs game in the 80's, Gazza (pre Hun) was outstanding scoring both goals in 2 - 0 win, Mirindinha, Beardsley, Waddle I have a mate who managed to go to the best derby in the world, Boca v River Plate, that would be my dream game to attend Link to comment
BrianFaePerth
2004 Norwegian Cup Final . Brann Bergen 4 Lyn Oslo 1, Brann Scorers Saeternes 3 Robbie Winters 1 A classic game. The best game eh have seen was around about 2007. Brann 5 Sandefjord 3. It was 3-0 after 60 minutes, Brann in completely control, then out of nowhere Sandefjord turned in to Brazil, scoring 3 in 8 minutes. They then went to utter shite and Brann scored two fantastic goals to win. Weird game. Link to comment
Stoney
Went to loads when I was younger and it was more afordable to travel. Champions League semi for me United 1 Barca 0 last minute ticket, last minute flight atmosphere was unreal was in the upper stretford end right behind scholes when he pinged it in the top corner from 35 yards, one of the best goals i've seen. Carloz Tevez had a world class game for united. Newcastle 0 United 3 last year and being in the directors box was also a pretty special experience Link to comment

The Oxford Don
I had season tickets at Brockville with my old man way back when. It was the 2 seasons the Bairns were in the old Premier League, think it was between 86 and 88. Anyway they used to have some right old ding-dong battles against the Old Firm in those days, mind one game when they beat Celtic - McStay, Bonner, Aitken et al - think it finished 2-1 to Falkirk with an injury time winner and the place went mental. Happy days. Also remember a cup-tie against Hearts when Walter Kidd tried to more or less literally kill a Falkirk player with the worst attempted tackle of all time. Fortunately for the Bairns player he missed, went skiting into the advertising boards and thus became the only player I have ever seen get sent off and stretchered off at the same time. Hilarious. Also been to Anfield a few times, no great games to speak of but the atmosphere is amazing. Link to comment

Jute
Middlesbrough 8-0 Manchester City Was at that game although not one of best I have been to. Top three would have to be 1. Real Madrid 2-1 Bayer Leverkusen European Cup final at Hampden. Brilliant game with both teams full of world class players and then Zidanes wonder goal to win it. 2. Espanyol 2-2 Sevilla UEFA cup final at Hampden. End to End game with Espanyol scoring equaliser in last minute. I have a soft spot for Espanyol so was also an experience watching a team you follow in a European final even if they lost. 3. Fc Graffin Vlasim 2-1 Dukla Prague. Czech 2nd division game. Not so much for the game itself but for the whole day out. Ended up in the players lounge drinking with Vlasim team. Link to comment
Cowie
Off the top of my head: Newcastle 4- 4 ArsenalNewcastle 5-1 SunderlandWhen I used to live there, my flatmate had a season card. For a massive day out - Leeds 1 - 2 Carlisle, League 1 playoff in 2008ish - Carlisle was the team of my other flatmate. Link to comment
Cowie
I'll add for randomness - Blyth Spartans getting beat by Blackburn rovers in the FA cup 4/5 years ago.Lesson learned -terraces are fun & Blyth is an utter shithole. 1 Link to comment
daytripping
Republic of Ireland v Norway, World cup 94 in New York Giants stadium, was a shit game 0-0 but the experience was immense, was fucking hot. Ireland qualified to the group stages with the draw. I was in the Norway end, fucking cow bells were irritating with a hangover. Link to comment
Pudgie
Fuck. I've not been to many. In fact. I think I've been to one. Dundee United v Caley at the start of the season. Fucking bollocks. Terrible atmosphere, terrible game but the half time pies and the pre game lunch (corporate) was brilliant. Link to comment
Teevan
First English game was Everton 3 - 4 Man Utd in Feb 2004. Best game I've ever seen bar none. 2000 CL Final at Stade De France, Real v Valencia. Wasn't a great game but the atmosphere and occasion will not be forgotten. Still remember all the goals vividly. Auxerre v Metz in October 2004. Auxerre demolished them. 3-0 after about 25 minutes, they were astoundingly good Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Link to comment

Bolton superb that day. Newcastle 1-2 man utd, was the first time Van Der Saar had been beaten in goal for about 10+ games, it was the hun lovenkrands aswel Darlington 0-2 Macclesfield....season Darlington went into oblivion me and my pals (8 of us) match sponsored the game after organising long weekend away for darts in Newcastle. was cracking day out. wasn't expensive and they have a stadium which puts engllish prem grounds to shame Link to comment
dj_bollocks
I've been fortunate to have gone to some great non AFC games... I was working down on the South Coast in 2007/8 when Portsmouth won the FA Cup, also watched the Havant & Waterlooville games where they beat Swansea 3-2 possibly, and were leading at Anfield twice before succumbing 5-2. Both games were great value... Saw Pompey knock Man Utd out of the cup that year at Old Trafford and then went to Wembley twice to watch the final against Cardiff and then the Community Shield or whatever they call it... But I think my favourite non AFC game was when a Jambo mate of mine had a spare ticket in the 90s for Snake Mountain. He had no one else to go with so I thought why not, free ticket... Fucking Jambos only ended up pumping them 3-0, great bounce. Huns were fuming ! My work has taken me to Australia, Thailand and Malaysia and I've seen some fucking awful football there, but I watched a Barcelona game at Camp Nou where they pumped a team (could have been Valencia) 4-0... effortless football, amazing stuff... ChutneyLove
I'll stick 5 down that stand out in memory for now: 1 - Parma 2 - 2 Roma (amazing violence in stands)2 - Milan 1 - 1 Juventus (amazing goal for Milan by Schevchenko, penalty equaliser by Del Piero, unbelievable atmosphere)(Both above games on the same day, kilt and Italy top on strangely)3 - Newcastle 5 - 4 Leicester (Micky Quinn hat-trick for the toon)4 - Leicester 5 - 4 Newcastle (same season as game above)5 - Lazio 3 - 3 Inter (Claudio Lopez hat-trick in first 35 minutes had Olympic Stadium bouncing, Inter comeback was nice to watch as a neutral) Link to comment
