Maybe this thread means I am a big nancy-boy, but I don't care.

The wife and I have been going to dance classes - latin and ballroom. I highly recommend it - its all of good fun, energetic and a good laugh.

When I was growing up and in early adulthood, I hated dancing or being anywhere near a place where dancing was in progress. You wouldn't have got me onto a dance floor at knife-point! This naturally affected (badly) my prowess with the laydeez.

So when we got married I was dreading the first dance, but suggested taking lessons, so we could make a decent fist of it anyway. We took 4 private lessons and - much to my surprise I really enjoyed it.

Even though what we learned was only very basic, even knowing a simple routine gave you such confidence. Our first dance was a major success as a result - there's a cracking photo of our guests - about 4 of them standing in a row watching the dance, each with their jaw hanging wide open at my dance brillance.

These lessons are a follow up - same instructor, but public classes this time, so there are many couples.

I really like it - so far we have started to learn the waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha-cha and salsa.

I have the grace of a baby elephant and the sex appeal of a bull walrus - so I obviously look a real fool trying to dance the salsa - but its just so much fun. The wife is in stitches throughout at the sight of me.

Do we have any dark horses here, any hidden dancers?

If I have a son, I will advise him to learn to dance as early as possible - if you can dance, you could have any women eating out your hand. Even the beautiful Alessandra.

This will be one of the major learning points which I will pass on to my progeny

I don't know if I'll be sending my son to dance classes, to be fair. These are his formative years, and I'm doing my best to raise him as a heterosexual. Dance classes can do no good at this age.

 

I'm not suggesting you're light on your feet or anything, I'm just saying both my sisters danced competitively and I know the kind of lads that particular area attracts.

 

I was reticent to send him to Ice Skating, given the kind of lad that attracts in Europe, but over here it's an Ice Hocky prerequisite, rather than a slidy version of the Duthie Park bogs after 9pm.
