STANDfreeSCOTTY
How much could Aberdeen gain financially from coming 2nd in the league and winning both cups? It's a long way off happening, however it is totally possible. Link to comment
ericblack4boss
I think it's around 2 million for runner up I would expect between two cups if we win both around half a million Link to comment
StandFree1982
1.7mill ish for the league and about 300-400k per cup...maybe more for the Scottish cup. Then you factor in Europe next season which could add anywhere between a few hundred thousand and a few million. It will also increase the resale value of most of the players, so we could potentially make some money from selling players, not that I'd want us to...but if someone came in with a 7 figure sum for Pawlett...chances are we'd take the cash. zander
Not sure about prize money but we will probably hit the 10k mark with season tickets and see a rise in attendances towards the end of the season plus the European games. Probably a couple of million? Link to comment
STANDfreeSCOTTY
Potentially, pretty massive for us. I hope we can do it, we could easily end up with nothing this season. It's a huge ask, but it could be the catalyst we need to really start being a good, consistent team, playing in Europe regularly and chipping away at the debt. I am sure a lot of us would have thought that sevco would march up the league and could put in a challenge for 2nd in there first season. That doesn't look like it will happen now, and it may not happen any time soon in the near future. We need to capitalise on every opportunity we get in the next few years. COYR Link to comment
Ke1t
What does Football Manager 2014 say the prize money is? That's where I tend to go for most of my information. Btw, McInnes, play Vernon as the lone striker at the head of a 4-3-2-1 formation and he'll get you 30 goals a season. And you can forget about Milne upgrading the facilities, even after they get downgraded, the tight teuchter fuck. Link to comment
kramer
I can't find a link but a statement from Motherwell following their own Annual Report or AGM said that the clubs had agreed to alter the distribution of prize money, so 2nd place isn't as lucrative as it used to be. Link to comment

Ke1t
Fuck me, we stand to make about three quarters of a million more if we finish second than we would have if Sleepy Broon was still in charge? We might break even this year. Link to comment

Looonnngggg fuckin way to go yet - a lot of us have been here before....No one is saying that it is going to be easy, far from it. However as we now have the highest debt in Scottish football excluding any team currently in administration, I think the potential of having our best season in years and the money that can be made has to be considered. V for Vendetta
I'd guess hat £1.7M figure is probably based on a season we had sponsorship. Also: The new Asian TV deal we signed recently might add more to the kitty. Celtics performances in the CL will possibly net further solidarity payments to be distributed to all teams. Red Dragon
:scouser: Getting a bit ahead of yourself. Fuck the money anyway, the silverware is far more prestigious and rewarding...if we were to win any. And if we were to win any money I'd re-invest it in the team. We'll never repay the loans so why would we even bother worrying about it. Speculate to accumulate...in a measured way. The banks won't come knocking on our door esp if we become a club who have real potential to become a player. The debt is the biggest burden on the club. While we have this, we will not challenge Celtic for the Champions League place, if indeed we ever will. The amounts we could "speculate" would come no where near and risk the long term future of the club. Hearts speculated to accumulate with far bigger sums than we could hope from potential income this season. Where are they now? Link to comment

StandFree1982
and what trophy do you win for having the prettiest balance sheet? I'm not saying go nuts but have a fn go. buy better players, more consistent euro opportunities, more cash rpt. or be content with this season, sell our best players at end of season for less than market value and buy in guys like zola as stop gaps and keep going down the less than mediocre path we've travelled for the past 10+ years. fuck it, have a go.It's all relative. If we have a "pretty" balance sheet then we have more money to spend and we have a bigger chance of being successful. We just needed a decent manager who can bring in the right players at the right price, and bring on the players who are already at the club. DM has done this so far without breaking the bank. It's not about having a pretty balance sheet, it's about survival. The speculate to accumulate philosophy has been proven not to work with clubs on the brink after following that path. Our own debt comes, in part, from this attitude. The bold part is the pessimistic view. Flipping it around, under the guidance of a competent manager, chip away at the debt, reduce interest payments thus freeing more oney to invest int he team. We have decent players on long term contracts to build a team around for 2/3/4 seasons. if we're turning a profit, no pressure to sell and can wait for acceptable bids. A poorer season can be absorbed. Alternatively, chuck money around, have an off-season in cups and/or league and be desperate for cash. Link to comment
Bigslick
Speculate to accumulate is what saddled us with the debt already. Other teams have shown it can be done without spending big, Hibs are a prime example for me. They have managed to completely rebuild their stadium and have very little if any debt due to being able to sell on players. Our biggest mistakes in recent years has not been trusting in our players enough to offer contracts more than a year long, which has meant our better players leaving for almost nothing. Thankfully our new management team has addressed this issue very quickly, yet another thing that has impressed about McInnes. Link to comment
spamspamspam
It doesnt matter what we make, the budget will not change. We're in serious debt still, any money made will be banked and either used to have a couple of seasons where we have a bit of a pot to get through to sustain current spending levels or to service some of the debt. If we had 3-4 season like this then and only then will the purse strings be relaxed a bit but still nothing worth writing home about. The money means fuck all We're in this for the glory! Finally seeing some dividends from Willie Millers youth experiment. That is the only way a club like ours in a league like ours will get itself out of the shit. Grow its own players, supplement with a few signings that help take the kids through and can perform weekly as well and stay high up the league and carry on getting into semi's and finals of cups. Or the bank comes calling like they did with rangers? How about we save ourselves ~400k in INTEREST a YEAR and spend that on players. Every single spare penny we earn above our break even point should go towards the debt. 1 Link to comment
