Left Back

Not taking the shine off the great result on Saturday but I still think we need a natural LB as soon as possible. Consi is doing a okay job and was caught out more than a few times there and will be needed next season at CB with reynolds you would think. Clark Robertson is the poorest excuse for a LB i have seen in a long time, terrible going forward cant make a simple pass, bomb scare at the back also. I know I know he is young but you need ability which I can see nil off first touch turns my arse to jelly!

There was talk of Aaron Taylor-Sinclair of Partick Thistle signing a pre-contract with Celtic, but all seems to have gone quiet on that front.

He'd be a fantastic addition. Aberdonian too. Even if Celtic were still sniffing about, what chance would he have of keeping Izaguirre out their team? Imagine it would be slim. Mind you, money talks.

The best left back in the league is Graeme Shinnie who would require a small transfer fee - would really like to see us get him.

Aaron Taylor-Sinclair is a free agent and is another option.

The options for left back next season would be Scott McKenna pushing on aswell as Robertson, Reynolds, Considine and Hayes as per this season.

It's definitely a position we need to strengthen. Considine and Reynolds can both do a job there and both would be good as a backup to left back if injuries/suspensions arise. Clark Robertson isn't the answer. Maybe some time out on loan would do Robertson some good. Not just seen many other left backs this season so couldn't comment on who would be good options to go for.

Also right back is another area we need to strengthen in. Shaugnessy is a good player and I think he is a good right back but we need some cover. See how we get on with Logan but he has certainly impressed me in his first two games. Handled the occasions well, fast and looks right at home already. There might be a chance of a permanent move come the summer.

na na na

bomb scare at LB

Not slagging him off, he aint a defender but the games he's played there I've seen, no, wouldnt even try it again.

Shinnie is the man to fill the void I reckon.

Consi will struggle to play out the rest of the season there, I reckon Hayes will fill in from time to time but he is just an accident waiting to happen at points. Though we won the game, away against Kilmarnock he looked very uncomfortable at LB and made a couple of mistakes.

Roberston, when he is back from injury should go out on loan, and see if he can get some first team football. I hear he is a natural centre back as well, so I'm not of the impression he will become a good LB for the future.

Consi will do fine for the smaller teams for the rest of the season when we will be on the front foot for a change. Need somebody longer term for that position unless there's someone in the reserves I haven't seen yet. Still hoping Robertson will develop too.

I think Hayes role will change slightly as Logan learns when to attack - with Anderson/Reynolds/Consi basically slipping more into back 3 mode. This works when you're two up and playing the game in their half. This specifically does not work, and fuck me we've tried for 10 years or so, if the opposition are pissing crafty and turn up with wingers of their own. The scamps.

Aberdeen could be attractive for either Aaron Taylor Sinclair or Graeme Shinnie; both originally from the area and given our current league position/cup runs as well as recently extending contracts for our better players it would seem we're in a good position to sign either of them.

I'd be more likely to opt for Shinnie - a bit more of an all rounder than Taylor Sinclair who is very much an attacking full back. Given what I've seen of Logan (and if he decides to stay on) I think having two very attack minded players in our defence would leave us too exposed at times...would be happy to sign either of them though. Robertson is a similar age to both of these players but has had a few injuries and hasn't shown nearly as much quality as either of them so far in his career; probably needs a loan move to the likes of Hamilton/Livingston/Falkirk or a bottom 6 SPFL club to develop further.

IMO we need attacking full backs so we can break down the teams that come to pittordrie and sit in for a point. Tate isnt going to do sh*t when it comes to attacking compared to Logan.

Tate was woeful against Caley; didn't look like a player with over 300 appearances for Swansea. Might be ok at centre half, but didn't seem to understand that as a full back his main task is to close down wingers and do his best to stop crosses coming in. Not an option at full back for me. Based on what I've seen he probably won't be with us next season.
