Funny how the memory plays tricks. Another classic, was absolutely gutted though especially after what had happened the year before. But as you say revenge was sweet when it finally came the following year. Link to comment
a don in oz
That was the infamous McCoist backing into Miller and falling over in the box penalty wasn't it. With McCoist grinning while Miller looked like he was going to burst a blood vessel. I wanted to kill McCoist that day... Link to comment

Dandyesque
Check the wiki link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989%E2%80%9390_Scottish_League_Cup#Final Walters score the pen, but Mason scores twice. This was the game that Fat Sally got his deserved comeuppance after diving, not the one the hun won.# Got your finals confused Eric Link to comment

The Oxford Don
The pen in the 88 final was when Snelders and Robertson between them made a howling cunt of a fairly routine throw-in. McCoist converted it. Link to comment
tutankamun
Not that I wanted to watch it again but here it is. Actually took place on my 15th birthday. Loved Elephant Man's 2nd goal and celebration. To be fair, even though we lost most of them, that series of Skol Cup finals versus the Hun were great games and all live long in the memory. ericblack4boss
The one we one if you watch the highlights it shows that despite Mason deservedly getting credit fir the goals it was Smelters string of top class saves that kept us in it, I wonder if we can expect the same from Clangers? oilcat
Watching that 89 cup final again last night. If there is any doubt in anyones mind that McCoist is a cheating, greeting, diving, niggling, moaning little prick then this will dispell it. I never and I know that no AFC fan bought into the medias "cheeky chappy" persona. He was, is and always will be a fud of the highest order. Looking back on that hun team, man did they have some loathfull creatures in it, Gough, Butcher, Wilkins, Fergus-hun, McCoist, McCall, Johnstone and managed by Souness. Loving the fact (and I didnt remember this) that our winning goal came from a throw when they knocked the ball out after Van Der Ark blootered Gough.....we didna give them it back and Mason scored..........hud that huns Link to comment
