Willie Miller

Nobody comes close. The concept of MVP comes to mind. Miller was the most valuable player AFC ever had.

That was presented as a fact rather than opinion. Because it is, in fact, a fact.

I'm not sure how a medical fact fits into the debate. Then again, I've not studied at the feet of the great diversity that is both intellectual and a high powered executive.

Depends how you define greatness.

There have been better players, Zoltan Varga for example, but in terms of the length of time he stayed here and what the team achieved with him then no one comes close.

Willie was one of those guys who was so good at what he did you hated him if he played for someone else and loved him he if was in your team. He worked well with McLeish at the back, if one missed a player the other one almost always got him and sat behind a brilliant midfield and in front of a brilliant keeper. He couldn't fail really.

I think he was the best at what he did at that period of time, anywhere.

He was a very good manager, the football we played under Miller was stunning at times, in a different world to what we are watching.

Yes his last season was horrendous, he changed too much, but he did it aspiring to be number 1.

I couldn't disagree any more when someone said he pissed his legacy away, even with his failed businesses his legacy will always be the greatest player/captain to play for Aberdeen.

Agreed.

The football played by his team was outstanding.

A joy to watch.

But as you say,, tried to change too much too quickly in his thirst for success.

Shorts are far too small.

Are they bollox. I've had it up to here with wee fannies with wee dick haircuts and oversized shorts. I love this thread because it has a photo of what a man should look like. Suitable amount of facial hair, tree trunks on display to let all comers know that non shall pass, and shorts that say I'm comfy with the size of ma package.

Fuck it, I'm off for a stroke.

the best Aberdeen have ever seen, a true captain, a true leader and commited to the club and its fans, he made mistakes whilst at the club, none more so than pinning himself to Milne because of financial support from the chairman and his pay-packet, but it dosent take away what he achieved at Aberdeen, there should be a statue of the man at our club for his service and pure class as a player.

Having only seen WM play at the very end of his career, but remembering Mcleish - was Miller really that much better than Big Eck?

Eck got more Scotland caps (so did Christian Dailly I realise), and made a similar contribution to Miller in all our triumphant decade.

Interested why everybody see's Miller as being so superior?

Players learn from playing alongside other players.

Willie Miller helped to make McLeish what he was.
