TwoStars
Does anyone else partake? Free, timed 5k run every Saturday morning down at the beach. I see they've just got permission to do another one in Hazlehead Park. 23.19 is my PB http://www.parkrun.org.uk/aberdeen/ Link to comment

dave_min
Fuck that. I'm going to the pub instead. It's not every weekend the Dons play St Johnstone. Link to comment
The Boofon
Conquer your fear this weekend Dave min.Hill running is the way forward TwoStars min. Did the Durn Hill yesterday. Will be doing that each day this week then onto the Knock Hill the following week. A bit of a slog on the way up but worth it when you reach the summit. Link to comment
ChutneyLove
I have the ChutneyLove's Round with a Putter to think about, don't want any unnecessary injuries placing a prestigious event like that at risk. In other news, Cliff Richard is bent. Link to comment

hopeisimportant
Did this for the first time at the weekend at Hazelhead. Very impressed with the organisation and wasn't expecting there to be quite so many people taking part. Looks like the one at the beach has twice as many runners as well. I'm not an enthusiastic runner but now I have a time to beat I want to do it again this weekend! Link to comment

Yeah, the one at the beach is quite popular and a lot flatter than Hazelhead if you want that PB There's also a really decent one in Ellon Just seen your time. Very impressive..... take a minute off that time for the beach.... Link to comment

Very impressive..... take a minute off that time for the beach.... There are a lot of fast times at the beach parkrun so I'd be way down the leaderboard on that one. I think 5k is about my limit before start to hate the fact I am running. Maybe I'll start to enjoy it though, who knows. It's much more enjoyable/bearable in a organised event such as this as there is always someone to catch/stay ahead of. Link to comment
Nelly
just looked at the course route for Hazlehead, does the path not get too congested when heading back down to the finish? At least at the beach you return on the lower prom. Keep at it though, it's a good starting point. Link to comment

Dynamo
Whats a decent time for a 5k? How long's a piece of string.I would say if you're unfit and overweight 25 mins is a good long term goal. And if you're a young whipper snapper 20 mins. 1 Link to comment

RUL
I'd say 27 minutes for a fatty, that's 9 minute miles give or take...I did the park run in Edinburgh 24 minutes about 5 years ago or something like that, I don't even think I could finish it these days. Link to comment
RAZOR
In what way?Good targets. Hard but fair I'd say.25 minutes is very good going for someone overweight and unfit. As RUL said 9 or even 10 minute miles is far more achievable... Link to comment
