Pudgie
On it's way. New deal signed with Sotic. Well overdue. The site's been shite for years and is very poorly updated. http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20140501/sotic-appointed-by-aberdeen-football-club-to-provide-new-digital-platform-_2212158_3798261 Link to comment

MightyDons
Hoping the streaming becomes much more regular for overseas customers. Would like to see every home game broadcast live to overseas based dons. Celtic manage to broadcast every game (Home and Away) and Hibs and Hearts broadcast all home games. Link to comment
Pudgie
Celtic manage to broadcast every game (Home and Away) Absolute shite as far as I'm aware. There were no streams for the Caley game that was just played. Edit:"Hibernian TV International is now available connecting overseas supporters to the action with live video streams of selected Hibs matches - both home and away." "Hearts TV International Welcome back to HeartsTV International! Please find below details of the upcoming HeartsTV International live video schedule: Date Opponent Kick-off (BST)Sunday 27th April Hibs (a) 12.45pm" Link to comment

Hibs have HibernianTV & HibernianTVxtra - the latter offers overseas fans a season ticket of every home game The reason I know this - purchased monthly and game by game from them in the past when I couldn't get it on TV... Bobby Connor
Most Web sites look dated after a while, especially when they were designed for old size screens. It's been due for an update for some time. The latest version looked dated the instant it was put on the internet because it was already 18 months behind the times as it was just a template by whoever is in charge of RedTV and similar within other clubs. The incarnation previous to that was horrendous but at least it had a much more massive database of stats and history to look through. It had a bit of character. Seeing as I've lost hope of them calling me up I just hope we don't get a roll-out football website the same as every other team like last time. Give it to a local firm who might show a bit of passion about it and not just change the logo and colours in the CSS file. Link to comment

To imagine a nerdy bell end gets in between you and what you want to see is hilarious, that's just a shit web developer and the opposite of a proper web nerd who actually knows what he is doing and is user focused. The last incarnation of the site saw loads and loads of the database binned, presumably because it was outside the scope of the catch all solution that had already been developed without any input from AFC. That is shit. I hope AFC are going bespoke this time. Link to comment
Stoneybloke
It's all about presentation and making it look attractive and easy to use. Says it all when it looks tired in comparison to websites of league 2 clubs in England. Link to comment
Bobby Connor
For anyone who hasn't been here for 4 years or longer, I got a heap of grief for binning the AFC Chat homepage. It had one useful link which was to the forums. The rest of it was about trying to be a football fanzine which was a fair but totally out of date idea. That sort of content belongs elsewhere - blogs etc. I got rid of it because it was a barrier to the real content. That isn't being a show off nerd, it's just common sense and good design. The Hat still looks better than afc.co.uk and with a better logo too! Link to comment

Bobby Connor
Ah Wordpress... No comment. The Hat is on it's third incarnation since the official site last saw a proper redesign and I should point out that Bebo did it this time. Has to be going on all of the time which is where the official site has fallen down. That's just a CMS for Angela to type the fixtures and news into that has been going on since I was telling NicNac that I thought it looked shit and that I preferred the old one. you need a continual dialogue between the company providing the solution and the client. Has to be constantly evolving and improving. There is no such thing as "future proof", can't just set it up and walk away. Link to comment
Ke1t
Bring back animated gifs... the internets were brilliant when every site had animated gifs. Link to comment
Bobby Connor
It was better with Simpson's Gifs. Look at what Bebo has put into this site since I put my feet up (or started taking my job more seriously). Every time I come on there are wee improvements and touches. I love the wee World Cup logos by threads and all that stuff. Every business in the land could benefit from someone who does that work but they think that once they have plonked a half finished website onto the tinternet they are good for a few years and can breathe a sigh of relief. Entirely the wrong attitude. I'm just saying. As far as I see it the current model of how to manage a company website is fundamentally flawed, it just leads to deterioration rather than improvement. Probably gone outside of the scope of Afc chat with that one. Link to comment

If only we could improve the quality of the membership and their contributions... 1 Link to comment
