yamcha777
damaged goods worth a punt if he gets a good full pre season with us to stay fit. would be the attacking flair player we really need to turn games. surely wouldn't need to pay him to 2500 he was getting at murderwell Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
Nah. Not until we see the outcome of his hair implants http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/scotland-hero-james-mcfadden-becomes-3553573 Link to comment
dave_min
I don't care that he's completely past it and living off former glory. I'd like to see him warming our bench next season. Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
Similar attitude to McGinn so no thanks. Link to comment
Ke1t
If we can get him on a cheap wage then I'd punt Zola right now, and with Vernon gone McFadden would make a decent addition to the squad to act as back up to Rooney/McGinn or to use as a bit of a creative influence behind the forwards. I believe fitness has been the primary concern with him, rather than a bad attitude. I'd be seriously tempted though. Link to comment

As a direct replacement for Zola I would certainly consider him (if someone took over Zola's contract) but we'd still require a decent striker in also.Otherwise nae fkn chance would I want him Link to comment

Zola's pretty much worthless at everything. Even the fairly desperate early claims that his 'hold up play is good' have petered out as it became apparent that no it isn't. McFadden, used as a squad player, would be light years ahead of 'Big Calv'. If I were given the option of a late impact sub, Zola or McFadden, I don't think it would be a very difficult decision to be honest. It would depend on wages for me, though... only if we can get him on the cheap, and only if he passes a much more stringent medical than we gave to, say, Yoann Folly. Link to comment

Burton Albion were mug enough to take over Zola's current deal. Last resort Link to comment

elephantstone78
Well in that case surly The rangers would be showing some interest also?An accidentally apt typo there fnd !Re McFadden I would take him. . A fit McFadden for the next 2 years is better than a fit cammy smith IMO. Could easily manage 20-30 meaningful games and shouldn't be too dear. I think it unlikely an English side would take a punt on him after his Birmingham debacle. I would offer him an inital 1-2 year deal with pay linked heavily to appearances. That way if his attitude or fitness is poor he earns fuck all. If he doesn't sign well, meh no biggie Link to comment
Rubinho Escocia
I think he'd be a great addition to the squad - as would Boyd... I think he's been played out of position (left midfield) at Motherwell and struggled but would do well in our formation. Link to comment
Tord31
Would have happily signed him any of the last ten summers. Not this one though - past it. May well be a snip for whoever gets him but unlike Craig Gordon it is not a position I see us needing to take a risk Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
Like I say. If his hair takes, then he may be a new man & back to his old confident self. Wait until after the results of the implants, he may be a whole lot better up front again & we can get a better idea of the pattern. Link to comment
dervish
I'm sure if fit he'd be great and maybe we'd be better than motherwell at managing him in that sense. However, not good enough for them means not good enough for us. Fact. 1 Link to comment

caledonia
We should not really be signing anyone as backupThey are either good enough to push for a first team place or not Link to comment

ChutneyLove
There was nothing wrong with Folley. (sp?) His career was ended by a filthy tackle against the Arabs. At the time he was the best midfielder The Dons had. His passing success rate was fantastic. Link to comment
Byrne Baby Byrne
I think McFadden will end up at Hearts or, if they go down, Hibs Sadly past it. Most talented Scot of his generation Link to comment

Folley was out for ages with something our magnificent physios apparently couldn't identify, but apparently he had difficulty breathing, and was having a hard time training. Eventually he was let go, and it transpired he had Chronic Pulmonary Embolism, which according to Wiki can obstruct the flow of blood and oxygen to the lungs. So presumably the reason he was having a hard time breathing/chest issues was down to the fact we'd hired someone who shouldn't have been playing football. Link to comment

ChutneyLove
At the time of his injury against United he was a stand-out in The Dons team. Whatever happened subsequently to his lungs or whatever hadn't affected his performances up until then. The United fans cheered like they had scored a goal after that tackle - it was right in front of them. Minky bastards. Link to comment
