I think you are cheaper just buying a new one. I stood on mine and cracked the screen. I looked around the internet and they were charging something like £50 to fix...

Normally cheaper to buy new than repair smart phone and tablet screens I believe.

 

Well not cheaper but not worth the expense vs reliability post fix.

 

You can do it yourself via yputube but never tried it

There is a thread on Amazon where a company is charging £56 for repairs! You're better off just getting a brand spanking new one if you are paying that for a repair. You should be able to just load all your books back on, unless they were done manually via a PC/laptop.

 

You are £59 for a standard brand new Kindle!.

edit - ok, this is assuming you never pay for a book once you've bought the Kindle! But a lot of those classics are free.

I would take the chance of telling Amazon it broke by itself; you woke up one morning and it was just like that. They seriously don't give a fuck. Before you know it a shiny new one will be with you in 2-3 days...before even sending back the cunted one.

Already tried amazon and insurance they both said Fuck off basically. Bluto the penguin books are fine but hey will never replace my razzle collection

In that case, you're looking at 25-35 quid for a screen alone (check ebay).

 

Its a piece of piss to replace (see youtube tutorials), so would go that route rather than pay some dummy 25 quid more to fit it.

Buy the part and replace it yourself. Youtube will be hoaching with DIY guides etc. You'll save yourself a fair few quid.

Correct. I've replaced two iphone screens and an iphone back all through youtube videos and a repair tool kit fae Amazon. Complete doddle.

I gave the diy route a try, turns out I'm fucking terrible at this shit. Follwed the youtube guide everyhing went great up to the point where I had to heat the old screen with a hairdryer and gently pry the screen away from the glue. Put a flat bladed screwdriver through the mother board rendering the thing utterly fucked. Amazon are cunts

Hard copy is the way forward.

Electronic gadgets, mp3 files spotify won't last a lifetime like a good old paperback or CD.

My wife got me a kindle a couple of years ago and it has sat unused. I keep saying I will use it when I finish reading my actual books then forget I have it and buy another book. Nothing beats the crinkle of real paper. Plus if you're all out of loo roll then you can't wipe your arse with a kindle, well you can I suppose but just the once.
