Transfer Market

How do you think we have done this transfer window so far..

Seems to me All Derek has brought in is people to warm the bench or cover for injuries. Hes not brought anyone in for 1st team which is dissapointing. So no real improvement been made to the 1st team squad ?

Apart from Logan who was alreay in 1st team anyway ? No one brought in to impropve the team ?

Opinions ?

So we've taken in:

A keeper who was highly regarded at his last club and could yet challenge Clangers.

A centre half that DMc was confident of being bargain of the year.

Monakana who we've seen nothing of outside those who went to Elgin, and even then he was apparently very good.

Goodwillie, an ex Scotland international.

Shay Logan, who has the potential to be one of our best .

Yes we need a left back, but I'd rather stick with Considine and Robertson rather than sign Richie Byrne Mkii and have an extra wage on the wage bill. We know we need a left back as the Shinnie rumors are too advanced to be pie in the sky and we are working on it. If there's not one there to be had, like there hasn't been for the past fuck knows how long, then we won't be signing one this window.

Logan - Suspect defensivelyTaylor - Suspect defensivelyBrown - Jury's outGoodwillie - Good signing Monakan - Needs a game. Very average so far.

If we dont sign a left back pretty much every signing apart from Logan becomes - why the hell did u not sign a left back instead of him

Keeper is not even going to get the chance to "challenge Clangers"

CH may yet turn out to be a bargain but as yet is nowhere near the first team standard when all are fit.

Monakana done well against Highland league players (so fkn what)

Goodwillie "an EX Scotland International" as is the likes of Lee McCulloch, so what's your point? Goodwillie is an EX International & at a much younger age.

Logan was here second half of last season & whilst McInnes is getting & deserving of the credit for signing him this window. He is not an improvement on the team from last season because he was in the bloody team.

Overall it's been a really poor transfer window & it's made even worse by the fact we were decent last season & in Europa & SHOULD have had added attraction for players wanting new clubs but we've taken in (as it stands) nobody's

SB: Why nae? Clangers has had one half dodgy game. Who's to say that Brown won't get a chance. Surely clangers will miss one game this season be that through injury, fitness or suspension.

AT and JM: Time will tell. Let them get a few games against opposition at this level and we'll take it from there.

DG: There's a good player in there and from what I've seen, it'll come. Risky having him and McGinn in the same starting 11 but if they're both on form then I doubt there'll be a problem in winning that game regardless of the opposition.

SL: Brilliant signing, and don't forget, we had almost resigned ourselves to losing him. This is maybe not an improvement from the last window but it is an improvement from last season as a whole. We didn't have a recognised right back for half of last season remember.

Clangers is fkn bullet proof. How else would someone so shite have held onto the gloves for so long? It's certainly not because of form. It's through shite scouting, shite awareness (or pure laziness/ineptness) from countless managers. Clueless backing by some fans "Scotland's No.1" :suicide: & the fact that he's got a shite goalkeeping coach backing him up.

Right now AT & JM have NOT improved the first team in any way. I can't even see that the current first team players have to try very hard to keep them out of the side when all are fit.

DG "could" be a good signing & yes it seems McInnes is giving him his chance to get his touch back & this may spur Rooney on even more but so far this has NOT improved the first team on what we finished with last season.

I have acknowledged the FT signing of Logan & am fkn delighted about it but it still isn't classed as improving the first team side that finished last season.

I stand by my (so far) statement that the first team has NOT been improved on what we finished last season with & that side we finished with last season, with our achievements & our manager etc. SHOULD be attracting a lot of interest from players wanting to come here.

LB was one of our biggest holes in the side/squad but nothing has been done other than "rumours" about Shinnie.

This window (so far) has been shite. I hope to be proved wrong but at the moment I am right & you are just being hopeful.

I don't think (LB aside) we need to have a particularly brilliant transfer window, if we actually use the squad at our disposal. I want to see Shankland, Wright et al play. No player should be bullet proof, use the squad… Remember despite, fond memories our league form has been a bit ropey since March (W4 D5 L3 - 4 if you include the Scottish Cup game) - not the form of a supposed 2nd best team… Squad and formation rotation required !

 I'll get Derek to give you a call tonight and give you an update.

What more do you want? We could have looked at 1000 left backs or we could have looked at just Shinnie. Facts are, we're looking for one. That's pretty bloody plain to see.

So you're judging AT JM DG and SB on their collective 4 competitive games and saying that they haven't improved the squad? They could be world beaters in this league or they could all be Byrne-esque. They haven't done anything yet so let's not get ahead of ourselves and say that they have or haven't added anything to the squad eh?

And thus, this window hasn't been shite. You're just being pedantic in that our new signings haven't played much and technically, you can't be proven wrong, much and such in the same way I can't.

David Goodwillie is the only signing that I think we'll see have any major impact on how we perform.

His style is different to anything we already had or got rid of. Will be a few games yet before we see it though, I reckon.

Left back is obviously the one that everyone's talking about. As frustrated as I am that we still don't have a proper one, I am glad in a way that McInnes hasn't just gone and signed anyone to fill the position. If he feels Hayes (LWB in games where we perhaps go with a 3-5-2 at home?)/Considine (left back in a 4-2-3-1 away from home?) can do a job there until things are clearer on the future of his number one target (presuming Shinnie) then I am okay with that to an extent. If something doesn't happen with Shinnie by the end of the window, then can see a loan left back possibly coming in.

Logan on a permanent deal was a good bit of business, but as FnD says it's not an improvement on what we ended with last season. Ash Taylor strikes me as McInnes' long term replacement for Anderson, and Brown obviously replaces Weaver. I'm already finding Monakana a strange signing given he's not had a single minute of competitive game time yet.

I would have liked to have seen a left back and central attacking midfielder on top of what we have already signed. Can't imagine that the budget allowed us to stretch that far, though. For now, anyway...

I didn't say squad. I wouldn't & couldn't say whether they have improved the squad but they most certainly haven't improved the FIRST TEAM (was what I said) & that is where I cannot be proved wrong so far & you can :dontknow:

Accept it & move on. You are welcome to come back in the future & say I told you so, if or when then aforementioned players start to justifiably keep our regulars out of the first team for any other reason than fitness/suspensions.

The window has been shite & we haven't improved the first team from end of last season & THAT should have been the main objective & signing a decent LB was probably priority No.1 yet we're STILL waiting.

Exactly spamster. But it seems to some that he doesn't count, which is baffling.

Nobody said he doesn't count. You are twisting it to suit your comment.

Logan has been a great find & a great ft singing but as he was in the side for end of last season. Including him in the side for this season hasn't improved the first team from the end of last season. Yes it's maybe improved the VALUE of the team but not the playing side.

Logan has been acknowledged & the main points are the other NEW signings & they have not improved the first team in the slightest.

We've gone from having a great season (which admittedly fizzled out badly) & hoping to strengthen off the back of that but it seems we're just happy to hope we idol along as opposed to actually improving. This is possibly the last season to make a decent fist of it & we are left in the shadows again.

Would you prefer we did all our transfer dealings in the summer to fill up the gap between seasons?

McInnes has improved the team and the squad in every window he's had so far.

He's not signed in high profile players because he's extended the contracts of our current best players and already signed players he's happy with in their positions. No one has gone that needs to be replaced.

He's signed a few players we know nothing about bar what's on Wikipedia that have yet to feature and can therefore not be judged.

I'd be surprised if we didn't end up thinking at least 1 of them was worth a start every week.

I'd be equally surprised if 1 of them didn't turn out to be utter shite.

Let's give it a month or two rather than 90 minutes before getting our knickers in a twist - we have already looked a good side in half a dozen games this season - 1 match against a decent Utd team doesn't make us shite. If we'd not gifted them a goal, I reckon the result would have been quite different

Imo (IMO) he hasn't YET in this window. Yes the window is still open & I hope he has more dealings in the pipeline because thus far this window I'm far from impressed.

Also. Whilst McInnes has brought in a few gems in Rooney, Logan, Flood & Robson. He's also brought it some utter shite.

McInnes is not a God QUITE yet, so let's not get over carried away & believe he's got the Midas touch.

He still has to improve our LB position (a looooooong standing weakness) & also our goal keeper position (another looooooooooong standing weakness) & as yet has failed miserably in both.

I have praised him when he's earned it & I will also point out his failings. Why is that a problem?
