Geoff_Tipps
Been really impressed with him the past few games, links the play really well and seems to be starting a great partnership with Rooney. Is it to early to start talking about new contract? Link to comment

Plays at closing down without actually doing anything of note. Needs to up his work rate significantly for me. Link to comment

He was absolutely fucked by the time he came off. Link to comment
Ke1t
He's a quality player at this level. Calvin Zola was not. As for laziness, anyone ever watch Charlie 'Hands on Hips' Nicholas when he wasn't directly involved in play? Some players aren't busy, but when they get on the ball that's when shit happens. A few years ago we couldn't have afforded to have Goodwillie on our team, he'd have been "a luxury we couldn't afford". But now we've got a midfield who can actually supply our forward line I don't think we'd get much better for the money. Link to comment
tup
He's always been an excellent forward. He just let issues get on top of him for a spell. Link to comment

Ke1t
He's always been an excellent forward. He just let issues get on top of him for a spell. My thoughts exactly. I see him more like Duncan Shearer, best deployed as an out and out striker, rather than a Billy Dodds who seemed to think anything outside the Dons penalty box was his area. As I say, now we have a midfield that can actually do its job and feed our forward line... Link to comment

fifered
Also surprised to see Goodwillies work rate questioned! Wonder what game some folk watch sometimes. So do I. As I said, other parts of his game are way better than when he arrived and don't get me wrong, im delighted he signed for us but he doesn't close down defenders often enough. For example there were a few occasions in the first half when flood chased down defenders and waved his arm to encourage others to help him close down the defence. Goodwillie was nearest and didn't move. That's nothing to do with being exhausted, it was the first half. Flood ended up chasing the ball from defender to defender. Link to comment

Funny you should mention Nicholas, as a lot of Goodwillie's play reminds me of him; same splay legged flat footed running style, and same brilliant first touch and awareness of where his team mates are. I had him down as an out and out goalscorer, so have been pleasantly surprised at his all round game. Link to comment

We're already a man light in centre midfield without him chasing like a heidless chicken on the edge of their box. Maybe Goodwillie realised this. Link to comment
mutant
He is a very gifted footballer and his vision is something i think we have lacked for seasons , he dosnt chase down pointless balls like other strikers, he had a hand in 2 if not 3 of todays goals, and gets stuck in .We need to learn he isnt the kind of striker you lump high balls to tho .... (langfield) Sign him up pronto! Link to comment

Sheeptastic
Really happy with how this signing has worked out so far. We were at a relatively advanced stage in our talks with Boyd when Goodwillie became available, and I remember thinking at the time it would be good if the Boyd move broke down because Goodwillie would prove much better value. He seems to be proving that he is still more than capable of being a good striker at this level. Hope he sees the benefit of staying and we sign him up soon. Link to comment

I'd say we have a forward line that knows how to eat… It's no surprise that since we've gone 4-4-2 we've had more shots on target and more goals. The midfield quality was there last season but the onus was on Rooney, Vernon and Zola to score (and McGinn if he got the chance). But only one of them played up front and the midfield were somewhat goal shy. We just need to sort out the rear now… #TFWTG and the perennial LB question... Link to comment

In fact I've recently been thinking about our forwards, as you do, and I can't remember the last time we had such a potentially great forward line. In fact, we've got a fucking great team right now... it just needs to learn how to remain focused and pick up points against the shite, and we've a team that can actually crack on from last season. This team has more cups in it... and the way Delia has the Plastics playing we might even begin dreaming of more than just the Scottish and League Cup. But we have to invest just wee bit of cash to make that a reality, and I doubt Mr Scrooge McDuck.... I just realised Stewart Milne and Scrooge McDuck have the same initials.... I doubt SM will go for spending any more money. Link to comment

Ke1t
The worst thing in the world that could happen is we lose him after a year to some Glaswegian filth, either colour. He's our player, playing well and hopefully would accept a deal. Ooft, I hear that. Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
Surely it's not beyond the creative genius of this site to amend that to a red shirt and his brieks roon his ankles! Link to comment

dervish
Not seen how he played in the last game yet but from before physically he's a lot stronger than I thought to be honest. As has been said has the vision and ability to make passes and score goals. Last time I saw was maybe not 100% sharp but seems he's getting back to that with game time. Seems a definite signing, suits both parties surely? Link to comment

lukas989
The fact that McNananamamarara didn't get anything out of him (owing to his preference for the ugly Turkish prick) tells you all you need to know about what a cunt he is. Dave is a splendid splendid player. That overhead kick - wowee. Link to comment
