Byrne Baby Byrne
Been shite since FM08. Haven't played it in recent years.... As a result my knowledge of European football has hugely dipped Link to comment

It bothers me that they stick with the stick man game engine. Merge fitba manager with the in-game graphics of FIFA and you've got a game. 1 Link to comment
Poodler
Think I'll buy it just to experience the euphoria of putting Clangers on the transfer list and punting him for peanuts. 1 Link to comment

It's fine like that, the game isn't about the graphics. I'd sooner watch a virtual game with skin packs than wee coonters sliding around a 2D pitch. The FM engine is the same either way, so no reason not to make it pretty to look at for a more immersive experience. Link to comment
hopeisimportant
This is the first time I've still been playing the previous version of FM so won't be buying the new one just yet. I'll wait until a few patches have been released as always happens. Only play it now and again and currently in 2026 with Aberdeen. Link to comment
a don in oz
FM have had some poorer years recently but that stopped with FM13 imo. It was much better, and FM14 much better than that again. Looking forward to see what they do with FM15. Link to comment
Ke1t
Some previous incarnation of FM had obvious problems, like if you scored a few in the first half the second half would see the other team come out and start passing the ball around like they were AC Milan circa 1990. Or if you found a particular formation that the AI couldn't cope with you could just piss most competitions without really trying. The current problem is when you're in the upper reaches of the division, any time you play a team struggling to stave off relegation they will nine times out of ten beat you. There's always some quirk with the engine. 1 Link to comment

a don in oz
First comment. Excellent: they've added a universal interface zoom mode which is great for folks with shit eyesight like myself. Link to comment
a don in oz
Second comment. Loving the way they've got you deciding the kind of manager you are (your skills in different areas) up front. Just things to weight what you try and do in the game. Nice. Third comment. The menu down the left works well. Much easier to find stuff. No more comments until I've played a few matches at some point. Link to comment

Like FIFA when building a player? Link to comment
a don in oz
Basically you say how much you are a "tracksuit" manager and how much you are a "tactical" manager. You say what your experience is in each type (the whole "played sunday league" thing... plus what coaching qualifications you have) You then move a slider between the two to weight them. If you're hands off then more towards the tactical manager side. Then within each group of tactical and touchline you can add or remove a points pool against attributes in each. So the tracksuit manager will have attacking coaching, defending coaching, goalkeeper coaching and so on. It's really neat. Just had my first game - the initial intra-team one against the U20s - and I like this. The gubbins they've added this time around seems to make it easier to use the game as well as have more 'stuff' to do. The scouting stuff is better too. They tell you up front if you've got no chance with their wages, or if they're a player maybe worth keeping an eye on for instance. Yeah. I like so far. Link to comment
spamspamspam
or maybe you just spoke wrongly at the pre match press conference? I think its a bit more quirky than that MTPress conferences make a much bigger difference in the last couple of years than they did before but I think training also has an effect on them, one thats a lot harder to see coming and keep track of. I find if I dont mix up the training during a winning streak, not too much but tweak it a bit and concentrate on different areas each week the whole team gets stale and thats when the 2 or 3 loses in a row come. a don in oz
Nice. You can tell a player to try and find themselves a club if you don't get any offers for them (sorry Russ... go find yourself a club). Link to comment

Patty
It's alright. The facepack I downloaded used the Euro U17s site as a reference. They mixed up the headshots for Wright and some other boy. I've swapped them round and all is well. The images were sourced from the U17 Euros shoots and apparently, Zak Jules and Scott Wright were swapped around, leading to each having the other's cut-out. Just swap 61064265 and 29129403 around from within your megapack folder and you'll be sorted Just in case anyone has the same pack as me. Link to comment
Patty
Having my best ever start to any Football Manager game as Aberdeen. It's just unfortunate that all the other teams are just as strong. Didn't do too much business in the transfer window. Took in Paul Quinn on a free as a left back choice. Also asked Stewart Milne to get me Danny Wilson as we were having a tiny centre half crisis during pre-season. Ash Taylor hasn't had a look in and wanted a move. So I instructed Tony Docherty to let him go for free or to release him. Ended up paying him £55k to terminate his contract. Link to comment
dervish
I've just bought the fucker. Waiting for it download. Reckon in about two weeks time I'll be saying it's great. Four weeks and I'll say it's pish, when really I just got the tap on the shoulder from Milne. Can't help but feel at least some of my aggravation at him is FM based. Link to comment
a don in oz
Think I'm going to regret this but I sold Peter Pawlett to Celtic for £2.5million plus lots of extra clauses. He's been a beast for me. Scored about 15 goals for me only in September! (Most in Europe) Link to comment
Patty
How did you get that for him? I got a bid from Burnley for about £600k and turned it down. Now my season has gone all to pot due to squad morale. Link to comment
Patty
How fucking disappointing. Fuck you Peter Pawlett, oh and the innumerable injuries we kept suffering. Link to comment

Now my season has gone all to pot due to squad morale. Think they offered 750k and I went nuclear! Counter offered I think 3m plus 20% future profit and got "beaten down" to 2.5m plus 20% I think. I don't want to open it because I'm off to work and it's a dangerous thing at the best of times to open FM. Link to comment
Ke1t
I'm swithering about getting this or not. Some of the reviews are quite funny. Player asked to leave because he wasn't getting first team football. Complained when I transfer listed him.10/10 Probably not getting this until the full release and the reviews are in.
