Tennents Sixes

For some reason, the Tennents Sixes occured to me today.

 

Would anyone be interested in the return of such a tournament, for youth / fringe players?

 

It would offer shite like the Edinburgh teams the chance to expand their "honours" list :laughing:

 

The last Tennents Sixes was in 1993 - cant believe its so long ago!

The beacon schoolboy 5 a side held yearly in the old days was way better, the atmosphere was electric, especially when the local Bucksburn teams appeared.

 

I was a midfield powerhouse for Cloverfield, sadly the school is no more but my name would still be echoing through the corridors if it was.

 

Grown men should be on a full size pitch, leave the indoor stuff to the kids.

They really should bring back an indoor sixes tourney and slot it in over festive period.

 

Take a 3 week shutdown of the normal league matches and play some indoor games.

Loved it. Played for Dyce. Remember I missed one year cos I split my head open on the morning of the tournament.

 

Used to be some noise for a schoolboy event, the crowds got right into it. Was the highlight of the sporting calender, I have no idea if it's still on these days but was a great event.
