King Street Loon
In keeping with MT request for advice with regards flooring his loft, I'm looking for a bit of advice myself or a recommendation. As the topic title says I'm looking to get some work done on my built in bedroom wardrobe. We've one existing in the bedroom as it stands, but it used to have the hot water cylinder in it which took up some room at the side of the wardrobe. I removed the cylinder a couple of years ago myself and fitted a combi in it's place, buit I've done nothing with the space left over from the cylinder.Anyway plan is is to extend the length of the wardrobe and take in the space feed up by the cylinder and I've got a couple of companies (Sharps and Sliderobes) coming round next week to give me a plan and quotation. Now I know these companies are pricey. Sliderobes quoted me a ball park figure over the phone of £1000-£1500 per mtr length. If as I expect it does turn out to be pricey, has anyone got any recommendations of any local joinery firms which carry out these works to a similar (or better) standard and with same look/finish & materials. Or if any of you have had similar works done in your own homes. Any advice is greatly received as I've a budget and a bit of that is going on new double glazing and a new front door. Thanks for ny help in advance. CheersKSL Link to comment
daytripping
Sharps will be around £8k, they're very expensive. I'd say do it yourself, the likes of Screwfix Wardrobes will make to size, pretty easy to fit. http://www.screwfixwardrobes.com/ Link to comment

I.E maybe an extra door then plaster round the empty space? Link to comment

King Street Loon
Sorry, I'm maybe misreading it. Is this as simple as you're wanting to extend the length of your wardrobe? I.E maybe an extra door then plaster round the empty space?Yes wanting to extend the length, but also in height. Wanting floor to ceiling doors as opposed to the current ones being about 30cm from the ceiling in height. Also there is really poor storage within and looking to maximise the available space. We got the stuff from the kitchen place beside Skene Square.the doors are 2m x 600mm. Our wall width is abut 2m so he built a frame and then plastered round the sides. We were chuffed with how it looked. Being a plumber by trade, you must ken a joiner? Get a mate to do it. Cheaper and they're going to do a better job (in my opinion). EDIT: The doors are 2220mm x 610mm and were from Howdens. Link to comment

The Boofon
Boofon's your man for cupboard issues, specifically internal. Bluto probably more use for closet issues. Indeed. It would appear my survival tactics are better than Bear Grylls. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3025476/Survivor-Kenya-massacre-emerges-two-days-wardrobe.html It comes as survivor Cynthia Cheroitich, 19, who spent two days hiding in a wardrobe and drinking body lotion to survive, was rescued after al-Shabaab gunmen stormed Garissa University College on Thursday. Kenyan troops searching the building were alarmed when they heard sounds coming from inside a wardrobe. She was initially too petrified to come out of the wardrobe, but a lecturer she knew eventually convinced her that police officers were not the al-Shabaab gunmen - 50 hours after the barbaric attack began. A police officer said: 'She kept asking for reassurance from the security forces they were not al-Shabaab before she could come out.'She was given milk and rushed to the Garissa hospital, where she is being observed before being given counselling.'Speaking later in hospital, the survivor said she told officers from inside the wardrobe: 'How do I know that you are the Kenyan police?''I was just praying to my God,' Ms Cheroitich, a Christian, said. Point of note here is that it was following my advice that saved her as opposed to speaking to some pretend wizard in the sky. Well played that lady. Link to comment
