Pudgie
Work's started on the £7 million training ground at Balgownie. Hopefully training in it at the start of next year. Very pleasing! Link to comment
BWG
Was there nae an announcement that we'd be training in a dedicated training facility for the start of this season? Progress is progress though. About time we got out of the 80s. Link to comment
RAZOR
Nice! Cracking location as well. Would be very bizarre to have the stadium way over at bloody Loriston now. Link to comment
Tord31
£7m cost? How is this being funded? I hear weve sold the naming rights to it? Perhaps Statoil? But be surprised if thats even as much as £1m. The rest? Link to comment

BWG
I thought it was supposed to be a shared training facility with Aberdeen Uni as well? I think it's being funded by a mixture of Statoil, the uni and AFC but I could be wrong (probably am). Link to comment

I think it's being funded by a mixture of Statoil, the uni and AFC but I could be wrong (probably am). That would make sense as the uni already own that land. Aberdeen pump a bit of cash to help with renovations, get the sponsorship etc in return for using it full time. Link to comment

Would be very bizarre to have the stadium way over at bloody Loriston now.Move the AECC to Boxy as planned and build the new ground in BOD.Or leave the AECC in BOD and build the new ground in Boxy.Far more sensible. Airport close by for when the Champions League teams come to vist, plenty hotels and give the Boxy Massive ample opportunity to roll out the red carpet to visiting away fans. Chiefly the Zombies, Arabs and Celtic. Link to comment

super_al
This is great news. Would AFC own the complex or are we leasing it from the University? How does the facility compare to other Scottish clubs facilities? Link to comment
AFCaketin
I think both Saltire and Statoil are putting some cash into this Link to comment
V for Vendetta
I'd imagine we might have a mortgage on a portion of it. Don't see that as too big a deal tbh. Link to comment

How does the facility compare to other Scottish clubs facilities? It'll be owned by Aberdeen's premier University. Same as the arrangement between your beloved Hearts and Herriot Watt Polytechnic. ollie1903
I saw the plans months ago. If they haven't altered since then, it'll be an impressive facility. Link to comment
BWG
6 pitches, 2 of which will be artificial surfaces and also a rugby pitch for those so inclined according to the EE. Link to comment
Ke1t
Has work actually started... by which I mean is there a physical site with construction going on, or is this at the 'Here's a picture of how a training complex would look' stage, which is the same stage the 'New Stadium' has been at since the 90s? Minor works started, awaiting the i's to be dotted and t's to be crossed apparently but Dode seems confident. http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/aberdeen-fc/pitching-into-the-main-job-in-hand/ Link to comment

Pudgie
Back to square one. http://www.afc.co.uk/mobile/news/6437.phpCame in to post this. Fucks sake! We need a signing to boost us for next week. Things have taken a right fucking nose dive! EDIT: Maybe we're planning a stadium & training ground elsewhere is someone like the Donalds are sticking some cash in. I hope that's the reason anyway. Link to comment
SkyeDon
Not really a surprise. Things were taking too long and nothing was actually confirmed by the club last month. Couldn't really see how an agreement with the university was going to work anyway, and the statement suggests that. Annoying. Link to comment

paddy
Seemed more and more apparent this wasn't going ahead the longer no announcement was made. As numerous others have stated - not a shock. Link to comment

BWG
Nothing will happen now until a new council gets elected. I'm convinced that AFC are just waiting in the hope that they'll be able to renegotiate the stadium/training ground package again. Link to comment
