Work's started on the £7 million training ground at Balgownie. Hopefully training in it at the start of next year.

I thought it was supposed to be a shared training facility with Aberdeen Uni as well? I think it's being funded by a mixture of Statoil, the uni and AFC but I could be wrong (probably am).

That would make sense as the uni already own that land. Aberdeen pump a bit of cash to help with renovations, get the sponsorship etc in return for using it full time.

Or leave the AECC in BOD and build the new ground in Boxy.

Far more sensible. Airport close by for when the Champions League teams come to vist, plenty hotels and give the Boxy Massive ample opportunity to roll out the red carpet to visiting away fans. Chiefly the Zombies, Arabs and Celtic.

EDIT: Maybe we're planning a stadium & training ground elsewhere is someone like the Donalds are sticking some cash in. I hope that's the reason anyway.

Not really a surprise. Things were taking too long and nothing was actually confirmed by the club last month. Couldn't really see how an agreement with the university was going to work anyway, and the statement suggests that.

Nothing will happen now until a new council gets elected. I'm convinced that AFC are just waiting in the hope that they'll be able to renegotiate the stadium/training ground package again.
