Mike's play with the City reserves inspired Aberdeen FC to move for Mike. The Scottish outfit made a £50,000 bid for Mike that City acceded to in February 2002.

However, Mike's time in Scotland was brief after he managed but six goals in 39 appearances. Aberdeen promptly bought Mike out of his contract.

Mike had some success at Mossley AFC, where he scored 37 goals in two years and 71 games. Thereafter he joined FC United in December 2005 before announcing his retirement from football at just 25 years of age.

After football, Mike took up studies in the law and also dabbled in acting.
