caledonia
No way disappears in big games to much to be captain Link to comment
buchanskii
I can't see him firing up the team when our backs are against the wall... He's usually one of the first to go missing.. Here's hoping it is the making of him and takes him to the next level... Would have preferred Shinnie. Link to comment
Herouali0
Would suspect this is what convinced him to sign a new deal. Not hard enough to be a captain! Link to comment
Tord31
Im not convinced either. Think it should have been a 3 or 4 year deal if the club captaincy was being thrown in. Maybe McInnes sees it as a way to transition it onto Shinnie rather than giving it to Reynolds for 7 years or something Link to comment

CHOW87
I reckon Herouali0's suspicions are correct - he maybe even insisted on it before he signed. Bit of a snub for Reynolds after pretty much being captain all last season. At the end of the day it shouldn't matter who leads the team out. There's plenty leaders in that squad now. Link to comment
fifered
Happy enough with it as long as Reynolds wasn't pissed off by doing it. Link to comment
minijc
It's a gamble but all big decisions are, for me it could be a master stroke from Mcinnes to get the best out of Jack every week, a way of getting him to take charge and really take the game by the scruff of the neck, also I dare say that his new deal will have something to do with this, another thing for me, you don't need an armband to be captain, you need a team of leaders, Jack with added responsibility, Reynolds, Shinnie, Hayes, Robson and Flood when they play all have the ability to lead a team when needed to and should be doing that every time they are on the pitch. SkyeDon
Wouldn't have said Jack either. Would have liked to have seen Reynolds getting it, even Shinnie, but better leaving Jack to concentrate on his game I'd have thought. Link to comment

Not hard enough to be a captain!Reckon this could bring it out of him though, have to lead by example, hopefully see him take charge of the game and get stuck in to tackles, similar to Tim Scott Brown. At the end of the day it shouldn't matter who leads the team out. Tord31
masterstroke if it improves him as a player as he is close to being an excellent player. tbf weve seen it hasnt improved Reynolds as he has been default captain for ages now. Agree that as long as Reynolds is fine with it then heyho. Would have preferred Shinnie but see its difficult to pull a Hartley and make someone instant captain Link to comment
tup
People saying Shinnie are nuts and have no idea about how a football squad works on the inside. Installing a new signing as captain is guaranteed to unsettle the existing squad. 1 Link to comment
Tord31
I dont think there was a perfect candidate. I'd even have thrown in Robson as an Anderson type (he'll only play 10 games) possibility but he does all the captaincy duties off field Link to comment
spamspamspam
I remember everyone saying exactly the same about Anderson when he was made captain Link to comment
scoutman70
Happy enough with this and fingers crossed it turns out to be a good move. Seriously not convinced by Reynolds as captain. As a player, I definitely rate him, a captain I don't think he is.I would have taken Shinnie, Jack, Taylor and even possibly Considine before Reynolds. I would imagine DMC would have sat down with Reynolds personally to discuss this prior to a team announcement? Link to comment

tommo1903
Reynolds never wanted to be captain. Neither did Considine back in the day either. Source- body language expert Tommo1903 Link to comment
paddy
meh, cant be any worse than Mark Kerr or Ricky Foster. Good luck to Jack in his new role! Link to comment
BWG
It's a good choice and Jack is a more than credible candidate for captain. As others have said Reynolds just didn't appear to be captain material. Good luck to Jacko. Link to comment
bobb4you
I would imagine DMC would have sat down with Reynolds personally to discuss this prior to a team announcement? I don't see how it could have played out any other way. DMC regularly sits down for 1-on-1 chats with the players. I think not being captain gives Mark a chance to concentrate on his football and recapture form. Link to comment
Chewie37
Could be a genius appointment and an Aberdeen loon who's been here a while. Who's the vice though? Link to comment

dervish
Never wish to doubt the view of McInnes, peace be upon him, but I have a niggle. Three months ago he was looking like he was heading away, he is a great player and will be even better but not sure on this one. All I can see is that he must be viewed as someone to build a whole team around for a long time. Is someone that ambitious going to stick around to maintain 2nd place and every so often cup wins and euro runs? Not if he is as good as this move suggests. Maybe it was a play from McInnes to have him for one more year before being sold? That's all I can see from it, which isn't necessarily bad but has a risk with it. Link to comment
Sonoftherock
Actually think Mini might have a point here... having said that, would still have preferred Shinnie. A natural leader of men - something we've been lacking. Although, having Shinnie is like having an extra captain on the field anyway. Link to comment
starryfish
Would have been a bold choice to go for Shinnie who is an outsider. Might be the kickstart that Jack needs to really go and dominate matches. Also might mean we are in a better bargaining position when selling what will be our captain. Link to comment
