Having to play all these qualifying games is shite and I don't think I'm going to be very busy at work tomorrow soooo...

 

How would everyone fix the Europa League set up?

 

Less qualifiers, regionalised games, bigger groups, no Champions League dropouts? Let's play Platini and see if we can fix it for them.

There should be no seedings at all in Europe. If you are a team worthy of winning either competition you'll beat whoever you get in a group without the nonsense of seeding.

Agree with all of this. If I had to compromise on anything, it would be be the regionalisaiton of the early rounds - no seeding and no CL failures are most important.

 

Also, UEFA should pay for attractive women to give out free beer at the games.

The number one priority is to completely bin the champions league losers whether it's pre group stages or post.

Totally revamp the seeding system

 

1. Currently we have 2 seasons as 3rd round qualifiers yet we will only just make being a 1st round seed next year

 

2. Secondly the country part of the qualification is all wrong - West ham and Hull last year seeded for 3rd round despite never playing in Europe in the previous 5 years - Also Heart and Motherwell have a higher seeding than us at the moment based on the country coefficient from 4 and 5 years ago

 

Overhaul how points are awarded

 

1.Third round qualifiers get 1 pt max - a group qualifier gets 2 pts instantly and then 2 pts for every win 1 for every draw

 

2. Country points are halved before the group stages

 

Aberdeen played 3 games we gained 1 points for ourselves and 0.75pts for the country

 

Completely overhaul the Access list

 

There are 238 entries in total 112 enter at the first stage

 

There are 54 Country nations in total

 

36 Enter the CL and UEFA no higher than the second round

8 Enter the CL and UEFA no lower than the third round

 

12 Countries have 48 group stage entries

 

38 countries have no entry higher than Q2

 

A top 3 country before a ball is even kicked will gain 2.64 pts to the country co-effient

 

before a ball is kicked the 16th side will gain 0.4 pts to the country co-efficient

 

Get rid of the drop down from the CL

 

25 teams will drop down to the Europa from the CL

 

the top 12 countries will have 69 teams entered into the CL and Europa

 

38 are guaranteed Group stage football without kick a ball

 

5 are still guaranteed group stage if they lose 1 round and drop into europa

 

7 are guaranteed a second go if they lose 1 round

 

so 43 of 69 teams representing 12 nations will have guaranteed group stage football before they even kick a ball

 

24 Runners up, N3 and N4 teams enter the completion after 38 National champions

 

So I would

 

• The 20 best countries go into the CL group stages by right
• The 20 best countries Cup winners go into the Europa group stages by right
• No N3 enters before a champion - no N4 enters before a Runners up
• No club drops into the Euopa at any point
• In the Europa no N3 enters before a cup winner no N4 or below enters before a runners up
• Co-efficient are based on team performance only over 3 years
• Co-efficient are based on results only not on rounds you get to (so you cant get 4 points before even kicking a ball)

Willie Miller hit the nail on the head in today's evening.

 

He said that since they gort rid of the cwc, there has been an explosion in the number of teams qualifying for Europe.

 

Before there were less teams in 3 competitions, now we have far more teams but only 2 competitions.

 

It is madness and all the changes have been completely lacking in any foresight.
