English League Cup 2015/16

Was highly impressed with Barnsley.

Very enjoyable game to watch.

As for the transfer fees, every EPL club is at it now and will only get worse with the new TV deal next season.

£30M refused for Stones, £21M refused for Berahino. Wolves wanting £14M for a player they signed in January for £2m.

Think they are already spending this money - that's why we're seeing an increase in these mental transfer fees. The EPL is just going to go through the roof over the next few years.

Not to the extent it is now. It's spiralling to oblivion in the EPL.

They cunts are so pathetic they have a transfer spend ticker type thing and get boners when it beats previous seasons.

Absolutely mental.

For the money spent, the football really isn't all that.

What do you have to say on Real spending 200m in 2009?

Did you complain when Barca signed Neymar?

Or Real paid 85m for a Welshman.

But keep in mind Bloots min,

Real signed Ronaldo and Kaka in 2009, and much the same with Neymar at Barca, they were able to recoup a vast majority of the transfer fees in the first year through global football strip sales with their names on the back.

The same can not be said for Sterling ( or De Bruyne ) where the transfer fees are mostly via TV money or the owners deep pockets.

Ridic really, as Man United now get £75M a year from Adidas for 10 years, £20M a year from AON for the training kit deal,

Epk

What difference does it make if Real recoup their money from the popularity of the players or Man City recoup the money from the popularity of the league.

Or Man U recoup it from the popularity of the club.

It makes no difference whatsoever.

it's a myopic viewpoint to chastise the EPL without ever even commenting on the bigger sums spent by Real.

Holy fuck! Can you imagine what just a one off payment of £75M could do for any club in Scotland! That's fucking disgusting! In fact, that could boost our league to maybe getting 2 CL spots back. That's well over 3x what the whole of the SPFL pays out in prize money every year, and that's for 4 fucking leagues.

That kind of money is abhorrent!

Blame the SPFL. We'd have more chance of getting better TV deals etc if we didn't have the chief executive and half of the clubs calling it a one horse race.

From memory it was either Spam or EPK but one of them provided figures that proved our football takes in more viewers than rugby and all of the other sports but as these sports are seen as competitive (and our league is not) then we're pissing against the wind from the get go.

If the unthinkable happened and both Manchester clubs were relegated, the EPL would be dressing it up as something special, with a chance for others to get to the top of the mountain. When the huns were liquidated that was certainly not the case up here.

I think the real problem started when Real started to push transfer fee boundaries to perpetuate their biggest club myth.

We pay these fees cause we are the biggest around etc..

From Figo onwards their transfer policy has been disgusting.

This has forced other clubs to do likewise; its altered the market.

Clubs are encouraged to pimp themselves out to new markets and sponsors in a bid to generate income that will facilitate 50+m fees; something that Real did Years ago. Either that or rely on foreign ownership from the worlds wealthies people.

Roberto is complaining about Sterlings fee? City are 15 years behind the curve.

The money in the English game only brings it on par with Europs big clubs. Nothing more nothing less.

You know that I did/do because we have this discussion often.

I can't effin stand the spending nowadays, it's ludicrous.

The EPL is the worst for over spending and that WILL get worse, the whole league is bad for it, and yes 2 or 3 MAX in other leagues are ridiculous with their spending also.

Cunts.

That's what I'm trying to tell you; this is not new.

Why is the EPL worse than Real and Barca?

Is it cause the TV money goes to all clubs and not just Utd and Zliverpool?

But you know the Figo transfer was more than just that,

Real had just cleared their huge debt by selling land to the local government.

Florentino Pirez had just been made Real Madrid's president and his election mandate was to buy Figo and other "galacticos"

And the transfer fee between Barca and Real was always going to be inflated.

If you think Real's transfer policy has been disgusting, then you must think the same about the EPL elite teams ?
