Clydeside_Sheep
Poor decision by jury. Guy had researched knives and was known to carry one regularly. He chose to arm himself when going to school, chose to draw the knife and chose to use it. This is murder. It was the outcome of a series of decisions and research, not a heat of the moment thing. Link to comment

ab24_5qh
Strange this one like, A guy I know went to Colchester Jail ( Military Prison ) for taking a guy hostage on base and beating living shit out of him. He picked a knife up once he was kicking fuck out of him and stabbed him, because he had picked the knife up during the fight it was seen as spur of the moment and not pre mediated he never got charged with Murder. I can't understand why this kid never got the harsher sentence as he took the knife into school. Could be worse, Felony Murder laws in Indiana are crazy. If you and a friend were to break into a house and the home owner shots and kills your friend it is you that goes to jail for murder. There was a young guy, Blake Layman aged 17, who got a 55 year jail sentence for murder after he and a friend broke into a house unarmed. The home owner shot and killed his friend so he is held accountable for the crime not the home owner. Link to comment

From gov web: Sentences of over 2 yearsOffenders who are sentenced to two years or more will serve half their sentence in prison and serve the rest of the sentence in the community on licence. While on licence an offender will be subject to supervision and the licence will include conditions. If an offender breaches their conditions, they may be recalled to prison. Add in his age and he'll be out in 3 to 4 years. Link to comment

Must be pretty hard for the victim's family to live with the lad's deathand then see the killer can get an early release.Time to scrap the early release nonsense and start an automatic jail sentence for being caught with a knife for no good reason.
