Stoneybloke
For a while now, we have seen little evidence of good quality younger players being ready to make the step up to become regular members of the first team squad. Any who have briefly appeared on the scene have been reduced to occasional appearances, mostly as subs in the last 10 minutes, before being released or put on long term loan. Is this due to the manager's innate conservatism or are they just not good enough, for whatever reason? Link to comment

Byrne Baby Byrne
The only decent youngsters we had fucked off before they made the grade here... The rest aren't really good enough. Not sure if there's much else coming Link to comment

vanderark14
I've been wondering about this for a while, there's nobody coming through or DM doesn't want to give them a chance. During the well match he brought on the scouser at left wing, I'd rather he gave the experience to one of our own players because the scouse boy is pants Link to comment
Guest milne_afc
The fact we took Parker and the Liverpool boy on loan tells you what McInnes thinks of our youth system/future prospects. I know for a FACT that Cammy Smith wanted out on loan again this season but McWinless denied him the opportunity. Starting to think the Hun is a trojan horse tbh. Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
Hiring Stevie Cambell would be a good plan. Link to comment

dejanflapovic
The blatant overlooking of Cammy Smith is starting to become really annoying, even more so when he could have got more experience on loan somewhere and also the fact that the favorites are not performing. People slated me for ages on this but said for 18 months now that the Manager cant see past his chosen ones and it is starting to backfire.............. Link to comment

He's now in his 4th (?) season in the first team and we've not really seen much at all from him. Was excited at the prospect of Scott Wright coming through this season but it doesn't appear to be happening. Link to comment

Foster14
The manager not letting Smith go out on loan would suggest that he thinks he is close enough to the first team that it isn't worthwhile. He has done it with plenty players before in and around the first team: ShaughnessyMagennisMcManusShankland All players who if they hadn't been on loan would have been in and around the first team squad. I'd say that suggests that McInnes believes he is strong enough to push for a starting berth, but I am guessing (as most would) that he isn't doing enough to actually get one. Link to comment

Signing them in the first place is the questionable part. Are we that short of yoots capable of making an impression against Partick, Hibs and Motherwell? Link to comment
mutant
Smith is not the answer to our problem right now . He has had plenty chances and never proved any of the I love Cammy smith fan club right . He will be gone soon along with the remaining dead wood . We are better than Cammy smith , even with our current streak . Would like to see wright get a chance , especially after McTims performance against his beloved Celtic . Link to comment
Stoneybloke
If we are not seen to be developing younger players, then the better ones may opt out of coming to Aberdeen if they have choices elsewhere. Link to comment

Not necessarily, young players who believe in themselves should be aiming to get into a club like ours and compete for a place. It's all about confidence. Link to comment

Byrne Baby Byrne
No one really made the break through after winning the U20s league last season...Let's face it, we only won that because everyone else used it as a development league (as its meant to be) Meanwhile we were lining up with Clangers, Flood, Robson, Goodwillie & Robertson every week. As well as Shankland and Smith who it looks like aren't gonna make the cut Link to comment
