Clydeside_Sheep
Really terrible news from NZ, shudder to think what the long term repercussions could be. it must be one of the last places you would expect something like this. Really hope the already huge death toll does not grow. The australian involved seems to be some kind of 'romper stomper' nut. Link to comment
Clydeside_Sheep
Sounds pretty grim. Live streamed as well, what kind of dickhead watches shit like that? Sadly there seems to be a sizable community of sick ghouls who provide a market for such videos, as all those ISIS videos showed. it seems the next step on from so-called "video nasties" like "faces of death" etc. It is quite chilling, there is morbid curiosity and then there is being a sick fuck who lacks any shred of empathy or human decency. The kind of things we see / experience do affect and change us, even if only subtlety at first, it is certainly more stark over time. And this exhibitionist aspect of killers streaming or videoing their crimes is utterly repugnant. Link to comment

Clydeside_Sheep
It is interesting to see the Police and Political reaction to this horrible attack: Just read that the Police in Scotland (and London) are patrolling mosques. Why? What is the link here? They don't patrol, for example, Churches after the very regular attacks on these elsewhere in the world. (Two examples from this year alone, 20 killed in a bomb attack on a cathedral in phillipines and an egyptian policeman killed in a bomb attack on a Church there.) The irony is, had the NZ attack been carried out by islamists, the Police would still be patrolling mosques incase of a "backlash". It seems some are more equal on others, when it comes to Police priorities. Link to comment

looksgoodinred
Kelt wasn't wrong -- on no news coverage have i heard them yet describe the shooter as anything but "a 28-year old Australian man" or something similar. if he'd been Muslim, you can bet that would be one of the main descriptors. assuming the shooter is a protestant (seeing as how the hate of a particular religion seems to be the motivation in this instance.) do you think the masses will be suggesting that all protestants should now be tarred as terrorists? subjected to extra screenings at airports and such? or will it be that it's just a few sick people.. not representative of that religion as a whole? sort of like how some sick muslims aren't representative of the millions of muslims living peacefully around the world? why is it okay for some mainstream religions to get a pass and not others?
