Scotland Friendlies

Recommended Posts

Whilst I am all for McLean & Shinnie getting called up for Scotland games (only ones with a realistic chance) I am a bit nervous that they could get injured in these meaningless friendlies.

We would really struggle without them & especially Shinnie.

To be fair to the players though, I am sure they would rather play in them than not, so have to respect their hopes/views. Regardless of OUR opinions on friendlies, or International games in general.

I'm sure the usual International haters will be along soon enough, so may as well get the thread started.

Have they been called up or just guesswork?

No but they obviously have a very decent chance given Strachan is basically going to play two different sides pretty much.

They are the only ones in our side at the moment that are worthy of a call up. Shinnie for sure but that little squirt at LB for Celtic will probably (undeservedly) get in ahead of him first game.

International friendlies are pointless in every way really but if our players WANT to play in them then that's their call.

Fkn hate the thought of losing any of our players to injury because of some stupid pointless friendly.

We could lose, Shinnie, McLean, McGinn, Reynolds, Jack (long shots) & have to say that Strachan & McGhee's hatred of Aberdeen is more likely to have our players getting a game now & risk injury & dent our title hopes.

Griffiths for example will be "excused" as will Brown etc.

For that to happen you would be under impression that McGhee and strachan have intention of picking Aberdeen players,

Why would they now, when they haven't before, unless of course they want our players to be injured or fatigued, at a vital time of the season,

But of course they have no interest in Celtic being champions, indeed McGhee is no doubt awaiting Bonnie Tyler departure so he can get the gig.

Friendlies if utilised correctly can gain valuable points for the rankings. A few countries have managed this properly, Scotland don't.

We won't lose any players because history shows the dons players don't play even when called up against the likes of Gibraltar.

I think you are panicking for nothing here.

No intention for proper games but meaningless friendlies they will do it as they know they have no intention of really using them when needed.

Who was the last dons player to start or play for Scotland in a friendly?7

I am sure the last friendly saw only one player sit on the bench and get no playing time, it was Mark Reynolds. Shinnie sat on the bench for the Gibraltar match whilst Naismith, Fletcher and another very experienced player got on off the bench before him.

Hopefully the Dons get overlooked again and all the eligible Celtic players get a call up for what turns out to be some bad tempered matches. Griffiths surely has to start seeing as he's on 30+ goals for the season. Can only help our cause.

Is there under21 games? That is my big worry. Strachan will keep with mostly the same players he used in our latest attempt of qualifying for fucking anything.

Why plan these games in what is the busiest time of the season? When cup games and rearranged games are crammed into a few short weeks. We are virtually playing 7 days and nights a week and it's still not enough.

Are you mad? You have to ask that?

The SFA want MONEY not football. The football side is just an inconvenience that they have to put up with whilst the figure out how best to make as much cash as possible.

International football should NOT be about profit making at all. Fair enough if they were happy to just break even/make just a little profit but it's not that way at all.

Suits in charge in Scottish football are fkn criminals.

The ranking system is a complete and utter joke, anyone that cares enough about international football that they get a boner over ranking points after a friendly probably burns a different hard drive every couple of months.

International fitba is shit.

Unless you're Brazilian, Dutch or German?

Was getting told last week by my dads mate, who is a Tartan Army traveller, that his future son in law is in the England supporters club thingy and it's always a case of all the rival English fans end up fighting with each other. Fannies.......or is it just natural selection at play?
