StandFree1982
I'm sure we can all agree that the end of this horrendous chapter in the Scottish game has been good news to everyone involved. We've seen too many minor clubs winning cups and getting to finals, these pointless sides have had more fans enduring their football, which has been more competitive than ever before. This has to stop. We'll finally get to see the end of the Championship coverage, as we did with the First Division last season and the Second Division the year before. We were only really interested in watching it when that plucky cunt of a club, The Rangers were in it...right? Surely we're all getting bored of hearing about Aberdeens title challenge by now? We can have some comfort in knowing that next season all we'll hear about is The Rangers title challenge (at least until Christmas when they are 15 points off the lead). So let's all rejoice in the end of Armageddon and look forward to this new chapter in Scottish Football where a two horse race every year between the two biggest spending clubs is celebrated, where the SFA and SPL do everything in their power to ensure that everything goes the way of these two clubs and where cheating and corruption is accepted and should not be punishable. Next season we potentially have four of the "biggest games in the world" between two sides from Glasgow. I can't wait. 4 4 Link to comment
ben_1903
Absolutely. It's been just awful. I'm sure the good folks in A&E acros central Scotland are also looking forward to the Old Friends Derby as well. Link to comment

The Oxford Don
Absolutely thrilled to have Rangers back in the top flight, I have missed them and their cheeky songs desperately. I'm looking forward to friendly pints and pre-match banter with their charming, funny, down-to-earth and witty fans ahead of the resumption of our rivalry with them next season. Great to have them back, welcome home Teddy Bears! Link to comment

No potentially about it, Doncaster stated there will be 4 x main courses next season unless they screw up the cup draws that is Link to comment

I give it two seasons before both the bigots are using the same sponsor again and that sponsor will be "Fly Emirates" or something similarly Eastern. Link to comment
zander
Last post on the matter for me we are giving the new club far more attention than they need. We've got stronger as a result of "armageddon" and fully believe if the club continue to act wisely then we will continue to grow. Anyone scared of them coming up next season needs to have a look at themselves. 1 Link to comment

Lencarl
Clubs issue threat to end BBC dealSPFL chief Topping wants ‘north of £3 million’The chairman of the Scottish Professional Football League, Ralph Topping, last night insisted that clubs are ready to pull the plug on BBC Scotland’s Sportscene show and the rights to broadcast games live on radio.Long-running contract negotiations between the SPFL and the BBC are no closer to a resolution and the parties remain far apart on what the broadcaster should pay for TV highlights, radio and online rights from the start of next season. The present deal is worth £1.4 million per year but Topping said the BBC would have to offer between £3 million and £4 million before the 42 clubs would agree to continue. The BBC last night said Topping’s comments were unhelpful while negotiations continue.Topping and figures at a number of Premiership clubs believe the BBC should pay far more for its access and their views became more entrenched when it emerged this week that the broadcaster had extended its rights to cover the FA Cup, having signed a deal worth a reported £100 million in 2013. The BBC also pays £68 million per year for Match of the Day highlights, with Gary Lineker, the presenter, receiving an annual salary around twice what is paid for Scottish rights. At the end of last season Topping accused BBC Scotland of “short- changing” and “damaging” Scottish football and last night he said nothing had changed.Clubs want a concrete offer to consider from the BBC when they meet in a fortnight, with a view to having a deal finalised next month. If no agreement is reached, the Sportscene highlights show would have no footage and nor could Radio Scotland include live commentaries in its vast football coverage.“From the meetings that we’ve held with the clubs, the divisional and general meetings, there is an absolute view that they will have to come up with a significant offer,” said Topping.“In my view that offer would need to be north of £3 million. Between £3 million and £4 million. Bear in mind it’s the national competition and this year the league has shown itself to be exciting. There will be excitement right through the league next season also. I think that has to be reflected in the price — and the BBC has to show a commitment to the national game in Scotland.“I think there is a question mark over the attitude of the BBC to Scotland and it is vital that those in Scotland demonstrate that they are fighting the cause because others here would say ‘no, they’re not fighting the cause, they’re not banging the drum’. Yet when you look at their programming every night there is huge coverage of football. It is the backbone of Radio Scotland and I think there is a price to be paid for that. I think they have a duty and a responsibility to the community as a community broadcaster.“The view among the clubs would be that if there isn’t a significant move north in price, they would be prepared to pull the plug on the TV and radio stuff. There are guys at the BBC who are quite worried about what happens. What the BBC do is good — there is no criticism at all of the guys at the sharp end of the BBC — but the feeling is that they need to offer a value acceptable to the clubs to get an agreement.”BBC Scotland has consistently argued that it has no obligation to pay more than the market rate and that it must justify its spending to all licence-fee payers, not just its football audience. It gave a vigorous response last night. Ewan Angus, BBC Scotland’s commissioning editor for television, said: “We are in the midst of negotiations at the moment and it’s not particularly helpful that Mr Topping chooses to comment in this way. Figures have been discussed but nothing as yet has been concluded. But we are in a formal negotiation process involving senior representatives from the SPFL.“I am always hopeful that we can arrive at a deal that suits all parties. I’ve been involved in a lot of football rights and sports rights negotiations over the years. They are never particularly easy but you have to approach each negotiation with a high degree of positivity and optimism and that’s exactly what we’re doing.“We are trying to arrive at a position that the SPFL will be happy with, that is an appropriate level of spend for BBC Scotland and which will deliver the best possible outcome for audiences and fans of the game.”Angus dismissed comparisons with the new BBC deal for FA Cup rights: “Different territory, different sets of circumstances, different type of competition.” The SPFL’s deal with Sky and BT Sport for live coverage of games is worth £18.75 million a year. No need for BBC coverage of games anymore. Most people have access to ways of watching football these days. Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
I'm especially looking forward to the January interviews. What they will ask...Wharbmeister, will you be buying large to bring the title home to where it belongs? What they won't ask....Do you think your current 10th position, imminent insolvency (again) and average home crowd of 20,000 going booooooo has any impact on your potential signing targets? What they will ask.... Do you think its fair that (insertlatesthatedclubofchoice) should be thrown out of the cup for their secretary having the wrong kind of deodorant on when signing the entry forms? What they won't ask....Does the fact that this is the 39th club they've thrown out of the cup this season for said odour offence strikes you as in any way unusual? And finally....Mr Milne, does it strike you as odd that title chasing (the famous)AFC are struggling to sell out their latest game against hunbo, complete with its controversial decision to give them half the fucking south stand, as well as your heart felt plea that its sad to see the youngsters failing to get excited about this game (why can they not just be misguided, blinded and stupid like in the good old days) and that citing in the programme that "it'll be fantastic to welcome old Rangers back, sit back folks and enjoy a pleasant family sporting occasion, may the best team win (subject to email approval from Glasgow HQ)" was not the fucking brightest thing you've ever done you completely incompetent knob? 1 Link to comment

Bamber
BBC is screwed up with its sports coverage anyway Had to make £150 million of savings Got rid of F1 to save 35 million Yet pays £60 million a YEAR to the EPL to allow them to show the games that actually went ahead on Saturday. Match of the Day attracts 3.8 million viewers beaten by such high budget programmes as Holby City, Masterchef and Countryfile So at the moment they pay 1.4 Million for Scottish Highlights and radio, We make up 8.4% of the population, yet our TV rights package is only 2.2% of the TV rights pot Just remember Gary Lineker is paid more that the Scottish rights package Link to comment
