Patches
Hey guys, Sorry if this has been asked before, I did do a search of the forum but nothing jumped out at me. Where is the best free place to park on match days? Closer the better but I don't mind a 1-2 mile walk if need be. Or do you reckon West North street car park £5 is my best option? I've always just gotten the train to home games or gotten on the Edinburgh supporters bus, but have just been informed I'm now having to work Saturdays so won't be finishing in Berwick till about 9.30am so too late for bus (which leaves around 10 from Edinburgh) Cheers for any help you can give Link to comment
rumpus
I don't usually have my car at games but when I do, Can normally find a space in froghall, either terrace or avenue. Short walk from there and costs nowt. Link to comment

dave_min
Westhill. There's plenty of houses there, just park infront of any of them. 1 Link to comment
The Oxford Don
On the pitches at the back of the RDS. The road areas get properly busy but there's usually some space on the grassy areas. Just keep your wits about you and you can normally grab a space which is only a couple of hundred yards walk from the stadium. Link to comment
zander
South or Merkland then the doctors surgery car park next to the bobbin is decent enough. RDS then around the driving range or on the prom. Link to comment
SkyeDon
I'm sure you used to be able to park the full length of Golf Road, or at least more of it? You're on to a winner if you're able to nab somewhere there now. Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
For the big games versus the ugly sisters I always find intending to park at the beach but being last minute as always finding I have to park round the corner towards the actual Bridge of Don and legging it across the entire length of the football pitches and golf course to the strains of McDairmid shouting this is our team this our etc etc to be ideal preparation. Failing that Asda opposite the beach is always a good shout. Don't know what impact the new junction at Bedford Road and St Machar Drive will have for traffic heading west and the AWPR once you get further out. Hopefully good. Edit: I understand Berwick is not West! If I was coming up from the deep sarf (of perth) and I didn't have kids in tow personally I'd park up about Denburn somewhere and hoof it from there. Otherwise you're just trying to cut across the beach traffic mentioned above. Link to comment

jassb
When we have the car, we usually park in Hutcheon Street. Free parking there. Quick pint in the Butchers, then 15-20 minute walk. Link to comment

Quite amusing that people never learn. Seaton flats for me. Link to comment

strachanmcgheegoal
Are the uni car parks at the corner of King St and St Machar Drive still shut off? Always used to park there in the late 80's 90's but I'm sure latterly they were monitored/barriered. They were fine for a pint in the Bobbin pre match. Link to comment
Patches
Cheers for the help (on both threads) It would appear there are plenty places to park, which leads me to think 2 things about the people who answer the same question on Yahoo Questions and Trip Advisor (I'd googled it before asking on here) 1) They are arseholes 2) The are lazy fecks who think anything further than arms length from the turnstile isn't deemed "Walking Distance" Cause if you ever look on these websites you would, like I did, believe that Pittodrie is surrounded by no parking zones, permit only zones, etc etc. So again thanks for the help, puts my mind at ease now that I'm going to have to drive. daytripping
Coming from the south drive past the RDS, 500 yards on to the left you'll see football pitches with loads of cars parked there, despite what razor says you won't get stuck, I park there every home game, it's free and safe, bit of a delay getting away after games but not too bad. COYR That'll all change when we move to Westhill. The whole of Westhill will have parking restrictions, 20,000 cars will be there and the police will end up having to ban buses and cars from coming to Westhill due to the horrendous traffic jams. You might not even get to take your kids to the cinema to get away from the madness of it all. © W.A.N.K.S Link to comment
