fine-n-dandy
http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/club/index.html St Johnstone are higher than us. Have we been given all the points we have aquired? Thought it was 0.5 per win. We have more than 4 wins over the last two seasons haven't we? Even worse than I thought if it's only .25 per win. That makes a little more sense. So we are currently on around 1.875 for this season & roughly 6.3(ish) in total A bit shit for Hibs seen as they entered in 2nd round. Would only seem fair if they got additional .375 for avoiding the 1st round Jambos going to take a big hit next season 2.36 off, as are Motherwell Link to comment
Chewie37
Heap of absolute pish, hopefully the Champions League gets royally arse fucked when they try to make it invite only. Should get UEFA to fuck and get a couple of decent old school style Euro Cups going in the format of either the old CWC or UEFA and possibly a league variant that doesn't let Champions League drop outs into it. But then again can't see the sponsors letting that happen Link to comment

Even worse than I thought if it's only .25 per win.Match results don't count in qualifying rounds for club coefficients. They only count for the country coefficient (once you get to group stages match results count for both). In qualifying rounds, the points you get are based on what round you get to, plus 20% of the country coefficient. That's why Motherwell had a better seeding than us, simply because they entered in a later round when Scotland's coefficient was higher. At the moment we're gauranteed 1 point for getting to QR3, plus 20% of the country coefficient which is currently 0.375 So just now we've earned 1.375 this season, and are the 94th best performing team in Europe for 2016/17 (All four Spanish teams are joint first on 4.457 despite not yet kicking a ball). Worst case scenario: If we were to go out to Maribor, and Scotland didn't pick up any points (we lose home and away to Maribor, Celtic lose home and away to Astana then home and away in the Europa League play-off), our seeding next season would be 6.285. We were 5.460 this season, so we've already improved no matter what we do from now on. 6.285 would have been enough for us to be seeded in QR2 this season. We'd likely need a score of over 10 to be seeded for QR3 next season, and around 14 or 15 to be seeded for the playoff round. If we got to the group stage this season, and let's say we had a tough group and were average - winning just once and drawing once, and lost all the rest. We would still have earned 5 points (2 for getting to group stage, 2 for the win, 1 for the draw) + 20% of the Scotland one. Our seeding next season would be over 10. That'd be us seeded for the first three qualifying rounds, plus we'd have likely banked over £3m too. Getting to the group stages really would be fucking massive for us this season. 1 Link to comment

You get 0.250 for losing in QR1, and 0.500 for QR2. Hearts and Hibs therefore both got 0.500, plus 20% of Scotland's coefficient which is currently 0.375, though likely to rise unless Celtic and Aberdeen don't pick up any more points. Link to comment

spamspamspam
All designed so they can get the 'big' teams into the European comps, keep the likes of us out and ensure bumper TV deals for the rich clubs and the UEFA officials receiving nice little earners. 4 clubs from 1 league in the "Champions" League is a joke. Should just be the winners of each league and a knock out. That doesnt generate enough money though... 1 Link to comment
minijc
What's it mini min?I believe part of Mcinnes' plan for Aberdeen is to improve their ranking by a certain number, can't remember the exact amount of places he was aiming for but that's what he's working towards. Link to comment

Guest the shepherd
Club rankings.Who gives a shit.+1. Do not give two flying fucks about club rankings or the perversed coefficients (who actually knew even the word existed prior to Chick Young jabbering on about it constantly on Radio Scotland?).Football has been grossly unfair and wholly weighted in the favour of the so-called bigger clubs since the abolition of the ECWC, the introduction of the (non-) Champions League (4th place rule, etc.) and the completely fucked up idea to allow teams knocked out of the Champions League to join the Europa League in the same season. fine-n-dandy
Even at our level, a few extra points up around the 6 or 7 mark can be the difference between playing a seeded side, or non seed in the QR2 as it was with Hearts this season. Nae that that helped them much mind Our target should be to get up into double figures & stay there at least, which would mean 4/5 years in a row in Europe to do that unless we get into the groups this season which would be a real bonus. Last time was a bit of a flash in the pan, I reckon if we do reach the groups we can repeat it Link to comment
