Patches
So what with it being International weekend last weekend, I decided to pop down to the Carlisle United v Accrington Stanley. First thing I have to say is, Carlisle play some right attractive football, playing from the back on the deck mostly. But the reason for this post was to discuss Alcohol and Standing. These topics have probably been discussed before but I couldn't help but notice at the weekend the amount of people drinking in the stadium and all that £££ that the club must get from it. I was in the relatively new big stand, and I'd say at least 400-500 people pre match were standing under the stand most with at least 2 bottles in hand (the queues were massive) and at £4 a pop that's a whole lot of wonga. Not to mention the half time customers. The atmosphere was amazing at the game (especially the 2nd half) and I have to say I think that's down to the alcohol loosing people's lips. As I said I was in the stand, and that was rocking, the singing section is behind the goals in the terracing, so can only imagine how that was. The crowd was just under 6000 and you would have swore it more with the noise. I really hope with any new stadium we have we incorporate a good few sections for safe standing, it's just a shame that the carry on after the cup final last year has seen all talk of alcohol in Scottish grounds go silent, when from what I hear we were pretty close with Motherwell agreeing to run a trial with it. Anyway, it's obviously not the same as watching the Dandies and it was only because there was nothing else to do, but it definitely opened my eyes. Link to comment

Patches
You must have had a fair few.Unfortunately I was driving. But I kid you not I was shocked when they announced a crowd of just under 6000. My first thought was they were pulling a Tax swindle. I'm actually just listening to Talksport at the moment and they are discussing Scholes comments regarding preferring Non League football, and whilst I know Carlisle isn't non league I can deffo see the appeal for people to turn their backs on the EPL clubs Link to comment

I'd watch a highland league match before a CL or EPL match Link to comment
Bluto10
That's cause you support a HL club.Nobody world expect you to prefer English or Euro fitba when you support the Sco amateur game. I hi yo diff levels of fitba and it's Nae better or worse; just different. But agreed on the original point; I do like a pint(Z) during the game. Link to comment
tup
Aye the Highland league is more worthy of watching than the fake English premier league. 2 Link to comment

I'd watch a game at the local park before I watched the EPL or most professional leagues. Football has changed too much and not for the better IMO. I accept I am in the minority of football fans there though. Link to comment
BWG
The EPL is for people that want to pretend that they like football. It's like the top 40 for music, only idiots listen to it. Link to comment

Proud9
My experience of games down south is they barely even swear at games, have people going feel here cause a throw in decision went the wrong way. Link to comment

Lots of kids in the main sections. Kids for a quid at some games. All relatively civilised. Link to comment

360
It's because you're about 100 years behind us in terms of evolution. Just look at Braveheart. We were civilised and well mannered, while you lot were barbaric and took pleasure, and still do, from baring your arse to an assembled crowd. You're still playing catch up, we might be equals one day. Link to comment

The SFA will not want to get themselves in a situation where there is alcohol sold within the stadiums and one of the ugly sisters cause chaos. They're ok with them making a cunt of themselves as it stands as it's currently the home teams fault for allowing them entry. Link to comment
muttonhumper
I love the argument that drink should not be sold in grounds now because of the carry on at the Hibs v Sevco match.A game which had no drink on sale in the ground.. Fucking clowns. Link to comment
