Misogyny?

"Police forces across England and Wales are considering expanding their definition of hate crime to include misogyny after an experiment in one city that saw more than 20 investigations launched in two months.

Incidents reported by Nottingham women ranged from verbal harassment to sexual assault. Initial claims from sections of the media that wolf-whistling would be reported by women have proved unfounded. So far, two men have been arrested for public order offences and actual bodily harm in incidents classified as misogynist.

Melanie Jeffs, the manager of Nottingham Women’s Centre, said: “Women are groped, or groups of lads shout abuse or very sexualised comments at them. We have incidents of sexual touching, women being grabbed and men trying to get women into a car with them.”

The force defines misogyny hate crime as “incidents against women that are motivated by an attitude of a man towards a woman and includes behaviour targeted towards a woman by men simply because they are a woman”. The new classification means women can report incidents that might not be considered a crime and the police will investigate.

I'm not at all certain how i feel about this. Women shouldn't be harrassed as they walk in public, minding their own business -- just as much as a Muslim man shouldn't be harrassed. And in the event there's actual sexual touching, grabbing or trying to pull a woman into a car.. charge the man. That's a crime -- not just misogyny. Even if a man doesn't touch you, but continues to follow you or harrass you, are there not stalking laws to deal with such incidents?

I'm not certain I understand the need to have police resources to investigate incidents that aren't crimes, by their own admission?

Is this not blatantly sexist? Can women not harass men? Why should the police bother with things that aren't crimes?

well that's sort of my point. it's either criminal or it isn't. there are stalking laws here anyway (don't know about there), and other laws that would cover most of the instances they've noted -- except non-criminal acts.

i think it's real that women are harrassed more often than men. and in ways that make them feel unsafe, which men by their generally stronger physical stature, don't generally feel. but still. life isn't fair. learn to adapt, no?

Nae got a dictionary next to your copy of Mein Kampf, min?

Had to burn the books to keep warm min, its like Stalingrad 1944 in my mansion since I lost my job, tough times, heating is aff, but we will prevail....unlike Hitler and his rather unwise move into Russia.

Had he stopped at Poland he could have been sitting on a beach in Majorca with his feet up enjoying retirement instead of hiding out in an Argentinian jungle.

I don't think women harassing men is much of an issue though, my girlfriend gets all sorts of comments from strangers but I don't get any.

Maybe you're just an ugly fkr :dontknow:

Anyway. Hen parties aren't going to be as much fun for the lassies if they cannot attack every man within a 25m radius anymore.

On that note. Is there anything worse than when a weegie hen party graces your watering hole with their presence? Esecially those typical loud screeching all competing to be the loudest & centre of attention cunts. Doesn't even have to be that many of them in the group & you can never seem to get far enough away to get out of earshot without leaving the pub.

The battle of Stalingrad ended in February 1943 and despite what the Americans would have you believe was the beginning of the end for AH's assault on the Champions League Qualifiers. Still bloody cold in 1944 mind, still a bit devastated just a few less sharpened spades dinging about. Apparently there was uproar when the ravaged Russian defenders eventually discovered and freed the remaining civilian population raped, pillaged and starved to fuck but it was nothing to the seething resentment when they found two blow up dolls with Russian scarves hanging from a statue.

Who has given their punts up to a hen party before?

I was trying to buy a birds' pants in Wilsons last Xmas for £20. She was off with the £ till her pal intervened.

Em is there not a contradiction, not to mention a worrying misunderstanding and potential embarrassing social faux pas about to commence between these two sentences?

Anyway, misogyny n'that...

I really wish that security officer would have said his name was Hugh Mungus too.

She's the sort of woman who would make an appearance in the 'have you ever hit a woman' thread

the guy's an absolute arse, but that woman's voice is enough to send me 'round the bend. i didn't make it to the end of the video, so not certain how it turned out.

i'd bet money she didn't get any satisfaction though. i don't know that shrilly bellowing at everyone over and over is the most productive way to get what you're after.

Which guy? The original guy? admittedly I only watched it half way too.

Would you be offended if someone said it to you, LGIR?

hugh mungus. is an arse.

offended? that'd be too much effort.

i'd wilt the guy's micro-cock with a raised eyebrow. and dependent on my own mood, might just tell him to fuck off.

and then just move on with my day.

he would then think i just didn't get his joke. or didn't have a sense of humour. or was a real bitch.

and he can think what he wants. i don't know him, and i don't really care what he thinks about me.
