King Street Loon
Agree with this. I always said we didn't have the players to get picked, at one point Lee Miller showed some form and deservedly got called up, two seasons ago Mark Reynolds should have been and was in the squad. Now we have three players who should be in the squad and considering the shite playing at the back for Scotland there's an argument Considine too. Watching Mulgrew, Berra, Bannan, Martin, Hanley, Naismith, D Fletcher etc is painful at best. They play for in more "fashionable" leagues and this is the only reason they play for Scotland. McLean in particular should be picked ahead of bannan and mcginn. Its a little harsh on McGinn because he has talent but he's playing in a league which contains part timers whilst McLean is on the form of his life in our top league. I think you are being slightly harsh on Feltcher. He's played consistently well for both Utd and WBA. He probably more than merits being called up even if he doesn't play that well on a regular basis internationally. The rest, are dross. Link to comment

He was getting capped when he just recovering from his nappy episodes which showed how lightweight we were. Fair enough 10-15 years ago but his time has long since passed. Link to comment

There was a game against a bunch of no hopers a few years ago when Reynolds was in the squad. He was one of the only players not to get any game time. It was painfully obvious that it was a token call up. Link to comment

360
He's fucking shite. And negative too. Although Wednesday (?) was not great for any of our midfielders, Fletch was the only willing to play it forward to the ACM who was getting between Canada's imperious defence and midfield lines. HairyPie
So McGhee in news saying the 5 Celtic players coming in will give Scotland the required boost on Sunday. Mr McGhee, is this the same Celtic that consistently fail when playing continental sides? Are you really still masquerading as a football manager. Is that really the Scotland managerial masterplan for this weekend?Fuck off you stupid cunt. Link to comment

Ohjimmyjimmy
Hoping we get absolutely horsed. This is necessary to start the rebuilding process. The beaks at the SFA must go as well or we'll be back here in a few years time. Link to comment
V for Vendetta
Hoping we get absolutely horsed. This is necessary to start the rebuilding process. The beaks at the SFA must go as well or we'll be back here in a few years time. Yeah the only problem is when we get horsed the fannies running the SFA will remain in position. At best Strachan will step down and they'll go about finding another mope to take up the reigns. There needs to be a radical change of attitude with the national team IMO. We need to forget about the short term target of the immediate campaign when a new manager comes in and ask him to plan for further down the line. Develop a system of play that suits the younger players available and work much harder at developing those players together, developing the team style of play and stop filling the squad with mediocre players who are there because they perform consistently at a lower level eg ECL - these players don't necessarily have what it takes for international football just because they do well in the ECL. Keep only a handful of experienced heads, put the emphasis on youth and recognise that international football requires a different type of player and we can find those in many places not just by calling up every possible Rangers and Celtic player and adding them to every possible EPL and ECL player. Oh and picking whole teams of guys who don't play at their clubs also has to end, at most we can afford 1 or 2 in a team who haven't featured regular, any more than that and the whole team cohesiveness just falls apart.
