Robbie Winters
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40198567 So yesterday renewable energy out-supplied standard coal & gas to the UK.If this is the case then when will we see a huge reduction in our energy bills or will the owners and government still fleece us claiming the infrastructure needs paid for ? I am sure the set up and upfront cost of setting up a wind / solar / wave farm is expensive but nothing near a large offshore gas field or even having to buy Gas from Norway as this country does. Reduced tax revenues for HMRC but does the UK not have to pay millions into the Paris Agreement pot anyway ? Anyway bad news longterm for the O&G folk but better news to habitual growers of Cannabis. Anyone on here have solar panels or a wind turbine ? Any use ? Link to comment

Anyone on here have solar panels or a wind turbine ? Any use ?We just bought a house that has solar panels installed. We will get about 20p back for every kw we generate plus another 4p for anything we don't use. So effectively 24pkw back during the day for fuck all. I'm not sure how much it will generate, their last one was £200 but I think that's over the year. It's also free electricity during the day. However, we never paid for them, so i've no idea how much you'd save long term. For us, it was just an added bonus. Link to comment
S2RDS
The benefits to me are that its clean energy. The money is a bonus, but not important. The fact the funding for solar panels has been cut is a disaster. We should be trying to encourage greener energy, while moving away from relying on fossil fuels. There is a generation in power that ignores the fact there is no long term future in fossil fuels, but because thats so far away it doesnt matter just now. We have Trump in charge of one of the most politically and financially influential countries of the world and he wants to start coal energy again. We could end up going backwards, not forwards ! Maybe I should have looked into it more before this election and quizzed each of the door-knockers I've had on their parties policy on energy.Yep there seems to be subsidies one minute then they realize or pressurized from big business that now is not the time to turn green. I am sure there are treatments for every disease out there but multinationals and governments do not want the masses having access, cant afford people living longer and learn that nothing in this world comes free. Chewie37
Loads of solar panels here, its big business, there's even companies offering to build fences for your garden for free if you buy from them! Could be a new field for EB4B to get into. Lots of chat about how they store the solar energy, wind energy etc that's generated so it can be used in evenings or quiet periods. Compressing air in massive caverns was one idea, mental the scale of things that can be done with the funding here........in California..... Link to comment
